As far as I can see this is the first tweet on McNeil, which seemed to come from nowhere, I haven't seen his name mentioned much this summer.
Looks like we're really looking to add depth to the team more than anything else. I can't see many marquee signings this summer.
Apologies for the spam

Looks like the club are really pushing for wide players. McNeil and Townsend accomplished crossers of the ball, DCL will be happy enough.

Townsend will fit into our squad nicely IMO. I'm not resting my hopes on him but I believe he will be useful to our squad.
Grey I'm not too sure about. Didn't see him too often at Leicester. Don't understand why Leverkusen are willing to sell him for such a low fee after 1 season.

I agree in part with MJB on this. For us and for the tactics Benitez is likely to use, having a world class centre back (if Koulibaly is that), isn't going to be as important to us as it would be to a Liverpool, City or United etc.
It certainly won't do us any harm of course but we are not going to be playing free flowing front foot attacking football and therefore I can see all of our centre backs having good seasons because they will be well protected.
I expect the success of our season will be determined by how well we transition into attack and how we unlock packed defences. If we are going to spend big we need to do it on someone that will transform our attacking play.
Saint-maximin maybe??

As long as Michael Kean isn't seen as out 'best' centre back next season I'm happy.

Benitez is a workaholic and wont be tempted away if a bigger club come calling
I would have said the exact same about Carlo when he signed.

Well Richarlison’s season will start late - DCL won’t join in most of pre-season as he’ll get time off after the Euros so Kean may be our only option for most of pre-season. His place to lose with a new manager to impress. PSG will have to pay big if they want any chance to sign him as we need him currently.
I didn't think about our two main strikers having an extended break. Hopefully Dom is back early considering he hasn't played.
-
We will have more or less doubled our money on a player who has no interest in playing for us and also has a stinking attitude.
Not bad going considering we've been more or less forced into this situation. Keeping him at Everton only depreciates his value as he's not likely to play, and if he does he's not likely to be any better than we've already seen in a blue shirt.

His contract is up in 2024, so should still command a respectable fee when his loan is over at PSG at the end of the season.
Not a great signing in terms of helping the team but a great signing financially.

He's very highly rated and I'd imagine he will do to a bigger club.

It's really upsetting to see 'fans' do this (providing it wasn't a Kopite, which would not surprise me), but it's also sad to see the board still look to be pursuing a manager a substantial portion of the fan base strongly oppose.
Personally, I don't care about Rafa's past and would have accepted him as our manager, but having seen this develop I really don't want to see the fallout to his appointment and would rather see the club pursue another option.
Every single day it seems the club seems to become more disjointed to the fans.

As good as back up anyone is likely to get

People have done worse to the club than Rafa did, including Rooney.
Probably one of the better managers we could get on paper and I hope he will do well for us. I know he hasn't won anything recently and is being branded as a 'has been', but let's face it there isn't much to pick from, especially with many other clubs needing a new gaffer.
Let's get him backed. I know people are serious about not going to the game etc whilst he is here, but a lot of that will change from now until August, and if he's successful here all will be forgotten.
-
I think he's an important player for us as long as he stays fit. If real Madrid do want him though I'd imagine he'd be off, probably for a similar fee we paid for him.

Looks good but so did Robson Kanu in the last Euro's.

WHY. THE. FUCK. ARE. MOSHIRI. AND. KENWRIGHT. GETTING. INVOLVED. IN. RECRUITMENT.
You'd be wanting a say on who is managing your business if you owned one / was the chairman.
Plus we don't know the level of truth in anything that's being written. Blues are losing their heads because there's nobody been appointed yet. Twitter has been embarrassing recently. There's no rush. Euro's are on so nothing in the way of transfers, plus coaches will possibly be available after teams are knocked out.
I'd put money on the manager we get isn't in the bookies top 10 favourites right now.

I don't even care who we get anymore, that's how arsed I am about the realistic candidates.
Rafa I think will be more suited to most options. I'd rather us gamble on a young upcoming manager, but Rafa probably has the best CV out of the bunch.
Someone mentioned in a previous post about the fan base being split, forgive me I cannot be bothered to look back to see who it was. Whatever manager we employ the fan base will be split. The club can't please everyone.
I just wonder if we're waiting for the Euro's to finish.

Potentially another fairly easy start, but this is Everton we're talking about.
Yeah if anything it probably makes it more difficult for us
