  1. So now, you are a defender of managers with no resources ? :dont know: Why weren't you so lenient with Moyes, who took us to the top 4, Europa, Wembley finals, and regular top 6 finishes with little resource? It will be Wigans talks that would have broken down.
  2. I think the talk of Martinez playing pretty football is exaggerated. In the Prem, you need to win, not play pretty. Doing both is a bonus. We would be ok for a few seasons as we have a team that play well together, but once a manager sells a few here and buys a few there, things can be very different. Never have I seen so much enthusiasm to hire a losing manager, yet the same fans will talk of 'how great' our club is etc etc. If we sign him, then I wish him all the best, but my initial reaction would be frustration.
  3. Martinez might go to Stoke. Meanwhile we could get Hughes. I don't want either if I'm truthful. We should be able to attract more dynamic managers.
  4. Folk talking like we've signed Martinez ? :dont know:
  5. http://internationalchampionscup.com/ I don't know about you guys, but my mouth is watering already.
  6. Let me translate this for new member City101. Bwaaaaaahaaaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaa :jump for joy: I need to log off now, as the free Internet token from "I'm totally Insane" magazine is about to expire.
  7. I stopped reading once I realised it was from the 2 muppets on GOT; the whole reason that forum used to get right on my tits.
  8. I'm fairly sure I could have designed better in Photoshop, but for me, the timing of the launch is unfortunate, as fans are not at their most positive right now with everything that's gone on. I think the new kit is more interesting if I'm honest.
  9. They paid a lot of money to a company for the design. They could have sent it to a local school, and got more original artwork.
  10. There is a stumbling block regarding people being qualified, that could do with being clarified.
  11. From what I can gather, English coaches were given a period of grace, or a deadline, in which to have their UEFA Pro licences before it became mandatory. At the time of Southgate getting special dispensation, which was in 2008, coaches were still in that 'OK, but get it done before 2010' period, but I think our coaches have had enough time to respect the qualification criteria as it was introduced in 2003. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Pro_Licence That's why Neville is unlikely to get the job, nor are any backroom staff who don't have it, unless they only take the position for a max 12 weeks, as a Caretaker manager). An unusual point is that I can't tell if Martinez has actually got one either. You would imagine that he must have, but when he took over at Wigan, he was only taking his A licence, and his name is not on the Wiki list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:UEFA_Pro_Licence_holders or here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_managers_and_coaches_who_have_qualified_for_the_UEFA_Pro_Licence But then neither is Lennon, Pereira, Laudrup etc, and I'm fairly sure Lennon has one.
  12. Build a team around an unproven youngster ? It wasn't long ago that Barkley was a new name to most fans, and it's not like he's set the world alight since, having suffered a broken leg in 2010, which really set him back. He needs to gain more experience, so he is psychologically prepared in order to be natural and calm on the pitch, and I was personally disappointed that Moyes brought him back off loan. He's not ready for the Prem yet in my opinion, so not sure how we can look at him as a foundation in which to 'build upon' Romes.
  13. It was a long time ago though Mike, and our cut off point was 2010. From what I can gather, a caretaker manager situation for no more than 12 weeks is allowed, unless otherwise granted by the FA. I don't see why our club would be given any dispensation in our situation.
