Irony, or my post? Irony is much more light hearted than sarcasm, which is much more aggressive. Many comedians use irony as their main tool, but not everybody understands it, and instead there is a literal logic response that presumes the user is being serious. Unfortunately for me, most of my own humour is based around irony, which often gets me taken the wrong way. It would be a bad idea to offer irony to one with Aspergers for example. On topic, I'm fairly sure that a man with the background of a leading politician will be more than aware of why plane windows remain closed, although they do say that irony is wasted upon Americans, so no wonder he was taken literally.

I'm well into my 40's so a bit rusty with the exact rules compared to those who still play, but what I will say is that any contentious fouls should come under scrutination by an official who specializes in that aspect, taking full advantage of modern technology. In a game that has millions of pounds at stake, it isn't right that players can be sent off wrongly, as the outcome can't be changed. It's fine referees admitting mistakes, but it's too late then. There should also be a deterrant for those players who wish to cheat, be it by feining injury, diving, handling, or assault. Once they know it will be reviewed on camera, they'll quit doing it.

That's the first time I've seen Van Persies tackle. It's a lot worse than Shelvey's in my book. The guy has both feet off the ground and a stretched out leg charging towards the ball. No way is he in control, nor could he avert from collision had an ankle been there ~(imo). Should be off.
