  1. Sometimes finishing 1pt above relegation on the final minute of the final day of the season is a bigger buzz than winning the league itself.
  2. Winning trophies is very overrated. I would take Premier league survival every time over anything else, and each year, being able to play in the top league and watch the top teams is in itself quite an achievement. I would also rather have European competition than any silverware, other than actually winning the said events. A trophy brings joy for a moment, but the opportunity to compete is taken for granted by all, but the teams who don't have it.
  3. Your feelings may be mixed, and fair enough if they are, but you've only seen Moyes manage Everton with no funding, so to be fair to him, it wouldn't really be a fair assessment, as the only managers who have been more successful during his time here have been well funded.
  4. I believe you are right. Welcome back, or have I already said that?
  5. It's a damn sight better than being relegated and not winning it. Just because we are in the Prem doesn't mean we should not respect the achievements of those less fortunate. Had we been formed in 1978 we too might be looking up and dreaming.
  6. There is also the possibility that he could stay at Everton. After all, this thread was started in 2009 and he's still here.
  7. Didn't Dalz say "2nd Division trophy"? But yeah, better not to win anything than that huh, especially given that they have won it twice in recent times, not to mention the Intertoto cup, but let's not allow these things to get in the way of our narcissistic dilusions of being a 'big team'. Go tell a United employee how big we are, or perhaps tell it to Barcelona. We're another also ran, until we win something, and no amount of clutching on to history will change that.
  8. When was the last time 'we' won something? The way some of you slate other teams you would think we were world beaters ourselves. And Matt, any UTD fan, or Chelsea fan, or City fan, or Liverpool fan might also ask why Everton are in that list. You aren't intelligent enough to understand my thinking, so stick with the small minded tag, as it's much more polite than what I'd like to have written. Edit : Stroll on Southampton so we can move on from what is possibly the stupidest match thread ever.
  9. Maybe they should change their name and re-establish themselves.
  10. Get to fuck Steve. I didn't disagree with anybody. I just gave my opinion. My post was more to do with the lack of appreciation of Coleman, more than the new found appreciation of Osman. Try reading: And, I wasn't talking down to you, even if you have the sense of humour of a stone lately.
  11. You still have time to rectify your life mate. Be strong.
  12. They're only shit when they don't sign for us.
  13. Steve, Toffeetalk is a very small forum, and lucky if it has a dozen people online. It hardly represents the Everton fan base regarding views on Osman lol.
  14. Looking at it again, it seems the Chelsea player dived for the penalty. Had it been Suarez, there would be a few thousand people with nooses and flamed torches waiting outside the ground.
  15. Folk need to look at the bigger picture with Suarez I think. These guys are not coached in England. Their coaching is from the school of football that embraces, and encourages foul play, and they are told to dive, and told to use every trick in the book as part of their coaching. If we are to extend our game to the rest of the world, and invite other cultures into our game, then we also need to realise that English values are not shared by foreign players. We can't dictate what we, as a small shitty arsed country in the middle of nothing particularly important to anybody, think is acceptable. All we can do is offer insight into our values, and respectfully ask people to acknowledge them whilst here. What we can't do is expect folk to press a button, and immidiately become perfect. Our leagues own players are just as bad, so it's also hypocritical to think Suarez is a special case. For me, he is in the spotlight, for doing what the 'then' captain of England John Terry did, and then in the spotlight for doing what the 'now' captain of England Steven Gerrard does all the time. If folk are honest, a lot of hatred for Suarez emerged from his goal line hand ball in the World Cup, but would anybody have batted an eyelid had it been against Germany or Argentina? If the Prem lose Suarez, they will lose one of the worlds great players. People don't queue in other countries, or embrace the same courtesy we do, but it doesn't mean they are worse than we are, just different. Suarez clearly cheats, but my Staffy will also bite other dogs. To them, it's normal.
  16. They should invent their own language for starters. I'm tired of seeing options for 'UK English' or 'USA English'. It should be either English, or Dissleckzig.
  17. Well, you could go from one extreme to another I guess, but a few good results and things change quickly, as we know only too well ourselves. Any side that wins the Championship, and then qualifies for Europe the following year are doing something right. At the moment, things aren't running on all cylinders, but time will tell. I'd also like to reiterate that my initial statement has been well and truly taken out of context, and needlessly had it's focus turned to Newcastle. Please take a look at that list and tell me the statement I made is exagerated or not a fair comment. Unfortunately, the small minded amongst us chose to challenge Newcastles inclusion. The fact that they are part of Southamptons next 9 games appears to be irrelevant to some. Whether they are good or not is down to opinion.
