  1. Hahahahah, wonder what type of wages Pollit is on? I still would like to carry 3 experienced keepers assuming the third choice is on very very low wages. Better than Springthorpe.
  2. Wonder if Heitinga is going out the door? And if he leaves, if Alcaraz is his direct replacement with Duffy also competing, or if RM would try to bring in another centerback.
  3. Just hope this gets done quickly, we're all pretty anxious/on a high with 3 signings in 2 days.
  4. Something tells me he will be able to play quality professional football until he's 37-38 minimum, Saha said Distin was so fit that he wouldn't be surprised if he played until 40. How long will he be good enough for Everton? That's another story.
  5. 5 year deal. We've got him tied down for a long time. Hopefully he can transition over the next 2-4 years as Howard's replacement.
  6. "Atletico Madrid and Everton have reached an agreement for the transfer of Joel Robles to the English club. The goalkeeper, which ended last season playing on loan at Wigan, will compete in the Premier League with Everton set following the agreement reached between the three parties. In our club we wish him luck in this new stage of his career."
  7. I think none of us are concerned with him being 29 in regards to his performance, plenty of 30+ year olds can put in good shifts week in week out, sell-on value is the obvious worry. But, if he scores 15ish goals for us in each of the next 3 seasons, it will've been well worth it.
  8. I'd rather get an old, experienced stop-gap on a free to be honest. I know I keep saying that we have greater priorities to spend on a transfer fee for a backup keeper, but I still feel that is the case (as of now).
  9. I think a lot of it has to do with his personality. Baines seems a very shy lad who doesn't necessarily like the media attention/fame that playing for Manchester United would bring, I also think he prefers to live in Liverpool where he's from/knows.
  10. only one year seems a bit silly for 30. Smart once you get to 33-35+, but I would have no problem giving a fit 30-31 year old a 2 year contract.
  11. His last season at Leeds was in League 1. They earned promotion and he joined us on a free. Think he did a decent job here, a bit of a ballhog who wouldn't pass the ball to anyone else and would take on silly shots, but he did show goalscoring ability, scored some good goals, and showed some moments of talent. Definitely not a starting 11 striker at a top 6 Premier League club.
  12. Another good signing. Monaco will be a really good side next year if they keep adding to the squad. A bit annoying seeing such a small club being bankrolled by a billionaire. Gosling is a decent Championship level player, doubt he'll amount to anything in the Premiership, but then again, Holloway did a good job at getting the most out of Championship quality players at Blackpool a few years ago.
  13. Is that another classic Toffeetalk pun? It went over my head if it was.
  14. He would be the youngest player in that squad by over ten years, I reckon? Most of that squad can't go to the bathroom without aid, they are so old.
  15. Would make sense, despite us being a better side the Celta Vigo, Celta Vigo would get him used to La Liga.
  16. Twitter now saying that Malanda has somehow cancelled his contract and is a free agent. If so, we must go in for him.
  17. You think? He's probably worth an increase to 15-20k, just for joining a bigger club, but you don't think we'd put him on 30-35k a week? I sure hope not.
  18. Rooney won't come back here. At least not yet. He's good enough to play in the Champions League with some of the best clubs in the world, why come back here just yet?
  19. 5m for a 30 year old striker? I don't know. Doesn't seem like a good deal for the money, although his goal return has been decent at most places he's been with (around 1 in 3 I believe). *If he were coming for 2-3m I'd be much more excited. 5m seems a bit much though.
  20. I think the fact that Heitinga wants to leave and only has 12 months left on his contract has more to do with my desire for him to leave. When in form, he is a class defender, but his heart is out the door, and I'd rather sell him this window for something rather than lose him on a free next summer.
