  1. 45 minutes of football isn't enough to judge a player... unless it's Ali Dia... but seriously, give him some more time.
  2. We have the FA Cup match against Arsenal 3 days before their second leg against Bayern Munich... I really hope they do well in their first leg, maybe getting Wenger to rest some key players.
  3. I've probably been more favorable to Moyes than most on this board, but I agree. To be honest, I don't think he knew where the next step was from where he had gotten the squad over the past four or five years. I think Roberto has a vision and is getting the players to buy into his vision.
  4. I want his left peg, but attach it to McCarthy. That's all Adam is useful for.
  5. Can't justify the pricetag that Lukaku would command, nor do I think we have the money. At his best, he is a 25m player. Unfortunately, he's been incredibly inconsistent and shown some of his immaturity lately. Tough situation because buying anyone who is proven in the Premier League commands big money.
  6. There's a bit of an assumption amongst fans that all young players can cut it at the Premier League level, or should at least be given a go even if they've struggled at a lower level or not impressed in training. As for Duffy, he did well the few times he played for us in 2011-2012, but if he's struggling at Yeovil, not sure I want him playing here, especially given his lack of pace... With us playing high lines, we need pacy defenders.
  7. Sorry, mate. I have a tendency to be a sarcastic bellend at times. No need for that from me. If you think we can find better players than Rodwell in the same pricerange, then that's a fair argument. I'm just saying that we probably don't have the funds to go buy someone who is known to be a top midfielder considering we will need to sign at least one striker, probably two in the summer (One of whom should be a proven goalscorer, which will cost a lot of money). Colback could be a decent signing, he's not proven much, but has shown some flares of being a quality player. I reckon Roberto could get some could play out of him.
  8. There was a 3 year period where he played about 40 gamers per year... Two for Club Brugge and his first year at Wigan. The past three years, he's had some injury problems. I don't know, I think while he'll never be able to put in 40 games again, this may get better. We'll see. Shame because he's a good defender, but if he can't stay fit and Duffy is deemed not good enough, then we might have to go bring in another centerback.
  9. Great idea. Now if we only had 50m+ in the transfer kitty to bring in two top strikers and one central midfielder. You are brilliant. I'm going to recommend you be named our technical director, as clearly you could bring in a number of quality players with money we don't have.
  10. I've got a feeling the club rate him. Why else would we be committed to a 21 year old who still hasn't gotten any significant first team action at any level.
  11. Can we have it written into both their contracts that they are obligated NOT to be injured at the same time?
  12. We all agree. Rodwell would be a solid squad player at the very least, and could possibly develop into a great player. It's his fitness though. He literally can't stay fit for a three month period it seems. That's scary. I might take a punt on him if the fee was very, very minimal, but something tells me he's got a few years left on his contract at City, and they would ask for at least 6-8m for him... We've already got one quality midfielder who can't stay off the physio's table (Gibson).
  13. Wouldn't shock me if he wanted to come back, if we wanted him back, but the question is over what Barcelona want him to do i reckon.
  14. We don't need someone to make a difference at central midfield, nor do we have the cash to prioritize that position over bringing in a top forward. We've got McCarthy, Barry, Gibson who all are quality players who can play that position, plus Osman for cover, but he's fading quickly and no one knows if and when Lundstram will be ready for first team football in the Premiership. We need someone who can be a stable player who can do a job when asked, and we can use the rest of the transfer kitty for greater priorities, not central midfield. We need another player, but would be wise to buy for cover here rather than a superstar at 15m+. Rodwell would fit this exactly if he were cheap, but to be honest, he's way too injury prone. This hamstring thing looks like it could be a problem that follows him throughout his career, so I'm not sure he's the right buy. Too bad Hull are doing well, because I'd say that Tom Huddlestone would be a great buy, or maybe Mark Noble if he were cheap (though I have more questions about his ability)... Maybe Anderson at Man U, but he's on loan at Italy now.... My point is, we need another holding midfielder at the club, but given our current squad, it would be a waste to spend our limited transfer budget on a superstar at that position given that we have three capable players there.
  15. I don't see the giant problem. Keepers rarely come through. You just can't get them game time with the first team barring injuries or that young keeper being a standout. I mean, what are we going to do? Play Springthorpe over Howard and Joel? Yeah right.
  16. It seems as if a few injuries + Europa league destroys a lot of teams seasons. Newcastle last year, Swansea this year.
  17. Quite disappointing, isn't it?
  18. Whoops. Made a topic about him in the rumourama section...
  19. We need to mate Shane Duffy and Joseph Yobo. That'd basically be a Distin replacement.
  20. 6 months left on the contract? This one might be worth looking at.
  21. Newcastle nabbed Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong on loan... Wish we could've got in on that.
  22. Jagielka is a good defender. I don't think he was at 100% last night given he went off early against Stevenage. Add to that he faced probably the paciest counter attack in England tonight. He still had a 'mare, but I think this will be a blip, an outlier, the abnormal... Shame it happened in the derby, though.
