It needs to be determined whether Duffy is good enough... If he is, we either need to 1. get him actual playing time this year, 2. Loan him out to a PL club (a Championship loan won't do it frankly)... If he isn't, he should be sold or loaned out until his contract expires in May (I believe he has one year left). *Edit* It will be interesting to see how Garbutt, Ty Browning could get involved, even if they are determined to be good enough given that Garbutt is our third choice left back (a position that doesn't really need to be rotated... Frankly, we could struggle to get Oviedo enough time, much less Garbs), and Browning given that he's behind Coleman at rightback and 4-5 other players at centerback.

Will Ledson, George Green be involved? Be interesting to see how they get on.

3m would never get him, though I'd consider making a loan bid for him, but even I see that as unlikely given that United finished below us last year... I'm sure they are confident that they'll better us this year, but I still couldn't see them loaning him to us. Would be a publicity 'mare for them if we bettered them with one of their players.

Really don't think we need him assuming we sign another winger (I think we will be in the market for another... and not Beausejour). We've got Baines at leftback, Oviedo can play both leftback and leftmid/wing, plus Pienaar, Mirallas, McGeady on the wing.

I still think we ought to sign a few for the future first... Especially a few U-21 goalkeepers, right?

I still think we need to sign at least one more central midfielder given the increased number of games, the injury record of Gibson, and the fact that Osman looked like he was beginning to fade in his ability at some points last season, unless we expect Lundstram, Ledson, or another young player to play a significant role (regular appearances).

Yeah, but it's definitely always good to have a few of those. Wonder if we'll see him play alongside Stones one day? Would be nice to have a couple of English central defenders for years into the future.

Everton official account announced signing of Gareth Barry on a 3 year deal. Good news, as long as his wages are reasonable (I'm a little skeptical of giving him a three year deal, but I imagine he'll still be useful as a squad player at least by the end of year 3).
