  1. With you here, but think we could find a cheaper, more experienced option. Don't think we need to be going for young, expensive talent given that we've got Stones and a steady veteran in Jags, but we need to find two, inexpensive options as cover.
  2. Most frustrating player. He clearly is quite a decent player, but his fitness is just laughable.
  3. He showed glimpses of brilliance, but to be honest, I don't think he was/is/will be that special. Unless he's at the end of his contract, I reckon Barcelona would want more than I think he's worth.
  4. Can't believe he's still even on our books. Have to think he will be released in the summer or sold for a fee.
  5. Hopefully this will be a springboard for him to move on to a Championship loan early next season. Doubt he's about to jump from League 2 to the premiership right away.
  6. Think 34-35 points will ensure survival. My thoughts on the opposition: Leicester haven't looked awful, but haven't been able to get results. They are too far down in my opinion to save themselves barring some sort of miracle. QPR- look in absolute shambles. They aren't mathematically too far out and their run in isn't impossible, but their form is just so pathetic. They don't look like they will survive to me. Burnley- have a tough next 4 or 5 matches followed by a manageable last 4-5 matches. They lack true quality, but have a great spirit. I think they have a chance, but they'll need to steal a few points from the big boys in the next few matches in order to be level/even going into the last matches. Sunderland- God knows. They are always impossible to predict. Their run in isn't impossible, but not easy. Their squad has a little bit of quality, but not that much. They've drawn so many matches that this could save them if the others around them continue to struggle, but sink them if those around them pick up a few wins. No idea about this bunch. Hull- had an awful run of form earlier in the season but have begun to play better. Steve Bruce is the kind of man to lead relegation fighters and their squad has the fight for a relegation battle, but their run in looks the toughest of anyones. I could see them sinking purely based on the run in, but I hope for better. VIlla- thought they were doomed until Sherwood suddenly started getting results out of a squad that was pathetic most of the season. We'll see if this has all been "new managers effect" and if their form goes to crap soon, or if Sherwood will continue to get them to perform and steer them clear. I think they'll survive.
  7. Yes. A good pass on him. One of the most important attributes a footballer can have, and the most important attribute a central midfielder could have. He has good vision and a great pass, which will help us create chances going forward.
  8. Besic can hack Gerrard down in the 92nd minute if we're winning... or losing by multiple goals. That;d be fine by me.
  9. Anthony Taylor appointed to referee the derby? I'm disgusted. The only refs worse than him in the league are Lee Mason and Lee Probert. This is above his level. Would much rather have Phil Dowd or Martin Atkinson (Despite his Derby flubup w/Rodwell)...
  10. Besic in the Derby? My word, that's a recipe for a first half sending off.
  11. I could see him in Spain if a big enough name came calling (Athletico). He is a native Spanish speaker, I believe. Also could see him in Germany.
  12. Still better than Per Koldrup, I've been told.
  13. It was cool to see such a world class player as Eto'o in an Everton shirt, but it was never going to work for a few reasons. 1, He is clearly not a 90 minute player anymore (though this could've been rectified by fixing the following two problems) 2. Service to our strikers all season has been hit and miss 3. His heart never seemed fully in it. He didn't seem lazy, but I don't think he feels the need to prove anything anymore, so he never puts it all on the line.
  14. Good sign. Especially if he can make it as a regular for them. 19 years old and Championship ready shows that he has potential.
  15. Good to hear this. I had kind of assumed that he would be leaving the club in the summer or ealier given his age and lack of time, but it sounds like he'll either see first team action or be loaned to a Championship club.
  16. Seems odd, unless work permit issues mean that he needs to be loaned or Roberto rates him and knows the Heerenveen manager for a loan. Any odd chance this could be related to the David Henen saga. Maybe us returning the favor to someone who organized his transfer to Olympiakos?
  17. Is Iain Turner unattached at the moment? Maybe a mighty and triumphant return is in store for him. Maybe we could lure Marcus Hahnemann out of his retirement to sit the bench. Joking aside, we could use an emergency keeper.
  18. Please tell me that this is good-natured ribbing of Haf?
  19. Really disappointed in what has become of Gibson. Looked a terrific signing in 11/12 and had a great 12/13 when fit (Our best midfielder that year). But nonstop injuries + one long layoff, as well as his competition for a place now being people like Besic, Barry, and McCarthy rather than Phil Neville, his career has stalled here. Shame, because he has all the tools of a solid midfielder, but I have to think his time here is limited bar an Alan Hutton like career revival.
  20. LA is gorgeous, but a tad too focused on status, celebrities, who's who kind of stuff. Very superficial town, but a lot of fun things to do as well as beautiful homes and beaches in the area.
  21. Is it Cambodia where one can pay the military to shoot a rocket launcher/RPG at a cow on a shooting range?
  22. Got to be honest, I doubt Real Sociedad give a shit about a tiki taka (boring football) revolution if it means success for the club, aka firing them back into the Champions League.
  23. Better than Robles, but not a guy who is going to be a star in between the sticks long-term.
  24. Deulofeu would be a great signing. Overhyped, but better than what we've got.
