  1. If McGeady could just stay fit, Di Maria would have nothing for him! I've gotten into a habit of "taking the piss" (Am I using that correctly?) Lately...
  2. I believe it. LVG said he wouldn't let Angel Di Maria go without bringing in a player of similar ability.
  3. Former Everton Chairman, but I don't get the exact reference.
  4. Everyone could identify you because we know you're Bill Kenwright.
  5. I have no idea why he had so many detractors amongst the fans. He had a terrible 12/13 season, but was brilliant in 11/12 (player of the year, right?) and was a solid defender every other period.
  6. Not again. I swear every member of this board has way too much time on their hands.
  7. Interesting that we're already sending him out on loan. Hopefully at that level he's able to get regular playing time.
  8. I reckon that fee will come down when he's still on their books in a month. If Stoke or Palace or West Ham or another midtable/lower side don't come in for him, I reckon we'll be able to get him on loan or on the cheap if we pick up his wages as the deadline approaches. If not then, certainly in January.
  9. Disagree. All we'd have to do to make the squad stronger would be to loan out McGeady or Kone, imo.
  10. Gerry, Lennon, and Mirallas would be a proper set of wingers. Would love to bring in Adama Traore too and move McGeady on and hopefully not have to play Cleverley, Osman, or Naismith out wide.
  11. Was really hoping it'd be Messi and Rakitic.
  12. Sounds like he won't be setting the world on fire any time soon. That being said, maybe a bit of focus/drive as well as first team football could reignite his career. Impressed with Jonjoe Kenny as he is quite young. It'll be impressive if he can get into the Wigan team every week given that they are a bigger side by League 1 standards given their past decade spent in higher divisions (Not that their club-long history is one of upper division football and great success).
  13. No. Absolutely not. That being said, I definitely think they've closed the gap between their squads and ours a bit compared with 2-3 years ago. Southampton have a good group as well.
  14. Yeah, have to say that West Ham, Stoke, and Palace have definitely improved themselves.
  15. Funny you say that. I always thought Mark was American, but I noticed him using scouse lingo lately.
  16. We could just release him and pay whatever fee he would be owed.
  17. You haven't given us any potential signings from the Indonesian League for awhile, Ten. Still giving those obscure leagues a follow?
  18. We'll have enough to pay the wages for Messi when we put in a cheeky 90 day loan bid for him.
  19. So by that bit of news, we should be "about 48 hours" away from signing him.
  20. I reckon he was never quite good enough to make it here and certainly won't make it here now given his lack of progress over the years. I hope he proves me wrong though. I have to think we would've flat out released him if he didn't have SOME potential/talent. Ideally he'll make it here, but more likely the best case scenario is him making it in the Championship or moving to Portugal or some other lesser league and being successful there.
  21. if we could line up a striker to bring in, I'd be happy to loan Kone out for the year and let his contract expire as long as someone picks up his wages this year. Think he can score goals, but it won't be for us and it won't be as a clear second choice/off the bench striker.
  22. Watford have signed a LB as well and probably have a few on the books already seeing as they always get players from Udinese and Granada. Norwich seem to be settled on Martin Olsson at LB as well. Tbh, doesn't look like many lower end PL sides need a starting leftback.
  23. Can't believe we took their opening offer of 28m for the pair!
