  1. I would think that would be a good experience for him. I reckon he's not such a standout that he'd be in the regular 11 for any Championship side yet, so this would do him a lot of good.
  2. Agreed. Would love for him to manage us in the future if he gets managerial experience and shows the aptitude.
  3. Can't wait for it to be Harry Redknapp. Reckon he'll bring in Peter Crouch, Niko Kranjcar, and maybe even David Bentley out of retirement!
  4. No thanks. *Unless he's some genius we've never heard of*
  5. Not completely sure but want to see at least two strikers come in this summer. Maybe Kone could be sold as well.
  6. Moyes' post-Everton behavior is much ado about nothing in my opinion. Sometimes I think football fans just look for something to be angry at.
  7. Lucien Favre said he was on our shortlist but didn't want to wait for us to make a decision before he took his next job.
  8. Malaga had just been bought by a Qatari who injected millions into the transfer budget when he took over. Then the money was pulled a few seasons later. I like Pellegrini as a man. Seems a genuine nice fellow but don't think he has the ambition or drive anymore to try and take this club to the next level. To be fair, the same was said about Ranieri (This won't be the last time that's said)
  9. In his defense, the signings that didn't pan out were usually his less costly signings. No one knows if Niasse will pan out, but if he fails, he would be the big exception here. Alcaraz was a free, McGeady was very cheap, Kone wasn't very expensive.
  10. Would agree here. Wouldn't give him his own testimonial but would love to see him in a blue shirt for Cahill's or Howard's if they are given one.
  11. Would disagree and say that's a bit of a reactionary response. I would say, however, that Man U is obviously an important part of his life. He was brought through their ranks and it was there where he achieved most of his glory.
  12. I think the new manager has a decision to make early-mid summer. In my opinion, there is no room for both Oviedo and Garbutt in the squad. Oviedo is an effective squad player, but I don't think he is ever going to be a world class leftback (and has a troublesome fitness record). Garbutt has shown potential but has limited experience. The new manager should determine 1) Oviedo's willingness and desire to remain a squad player with us or move to a smaller club in hopes of becoming a regular starter and 2) Garbutt's potential to be the heir apparent to Baines. If we think that Garbutt has the potential to replace Baines and be a real, class leftback, it would be smart to move Oviedo on and make Garbutt the #2 there. If not, it would make sense to move Garbutt on to a smaller club and keep Oviedo around as long as Oviedo doesn't want a move.
  13. There are more inspiring options than Moyes, but we could do far worse.
  14. I know Hibbert and Osman have had testimonials, but would be great to give them another one along with Pienaar. Tim Cahill and Phil Neville (I know not everyone's favorite) could play too along with a bunch of youngsters.
  15. Jags is still a class defender who still has a lot to offer... if he can stay fit. Much more worried about Stones and Mori. Would never pair those two together.
  16. Had hope for him, but I think it's time he move on. Would be good to end up with a League 1 side where I think he'll do real well. If he does, I'm sure he'll be able to make the move to the Championship.
  17. Rightback: Definitely cover at rightback. 100% Need this. I think Kenny would do well with a year out on loan in League 1 or the Championship. If we really think Kenny will be good enough, ideally we could bring in a veteran on a shorter-term contract who we could move on after a season or two to make way for Kenny. If we are unsure on Kenny, proper cover is needed. Leftback: Does Oviedo need to move somewhere where he will be the #1 leftback? Is he even fit regularly enough to be considered decent cover. He's had real trouble fitness wise these past few years. Is Garbutt good enough? Is he ample cover for Baines and can we get him enough time to make him not ask for a move? I would like to see at least one of these players moved on, both if they are both deemed inadequate. Centerback: Is Jags going to be fit enough to be worth while? Are we about to see a decline in his abilities? Also, would we part with Stones if a good offer came in? Finally, are either Galloway or Pennington good enough to step in as cover? If we have doubts about both Pennington and Galloway, we definitely need to bring in one centerback as cover. If we have doubts about Jags ability or whether Stones stays, again we need to bring someone in as cover. Ideally a a veteran who knows the PL. Central midfield: Definitely need to do some thinking here. Is Gibson certainly moving on? What is the best path forward for Besic? Is Barry still reliable? Think we need to bring in a player or two here and really evaluate whether some of these should be moved on. What role will Cleverley have? Wing: If Mirallas wants to stay and we are confident we can get better form out of him, I think Lennon, Mirallas, are enough with Dowell filling in when needed. If we lose MIrallas and also want a loan spell for Dowell, then a new winger is needed... And it would need to be a difference maker/first team player. Attacking Mid: We don't need a player but it would be really nice to bring in a real star here. With that being said, Barkley could still be a real player under the right manager, right system, with confidence and we probably have too many needs elsewhere to bring anyone in here. Center Forward: Can Tarashaj or McAleny be involved? Gut feeling is that McAleny is a Championship caliber player. No idea on Tarashaj. If so, I would love to move Kone on and bring someone else in. Probably no super star but someone who offers something more than Kone and different from Lukaku and Niasse would be nice. Keeper: Who knows. If we don't rate Stanek, it would be great to bring in an emergency keeper. Joel hasn't convinced me, so we need to decide whether he is a #2 and that we need to bring in a superstar first choice keeper. Or, we think he could grow into being the #1 and we bring in someone who is solid, but not an outright number 1 (competition)
  18. 1. Koeman 2. Eddie Howe 3. Moyes 4. Pellegrini Absolutely don't want De Boer. Anyone can win with Ajax in that league. They are a giant amongst minnows and so much young talent is brought through their academy accustomed to playing a certain style of football. He has no idea how to play in the PL and also doesn't know how NOT to be at the big club in a given league.
  19. How can we not sack him? I just don't see why he's still on the sideline.
  20. Not a perfect defender, but there aren't many of those. He may be aging and we could see a decline, but at his prime there were probably only a few defenders in the league any better/more solid than him.
  21. The criticisms of Jagielka made by a tiny minority of this board are bizarre and beyond rational.
