  1. How does a coach as successful as Wenger at a club as big as Arsenal leave them so obviously shorthanded in so many positions year after year.
  2. I'll be sure to address you as "the Oracle" from now on
  3. To be fair, it's probably very busy behind the scenes.
  4. If he gets playing time there, it will be an incredible opportunity. That team could challenge for a playoff spot and the Championship is quite competitive. Add to that, I think Mick McCarthy is a good manager for a young player to play under.
  5. Jagielka should remain club captain and a 2nd and 3rd captain should be appointed.
  6. As a player on the pitch, I'd take him in a heartbeat. As a transfer, I'm not sure. He's 31 and who knows what his fitness will be like going forward. If a magic ball could guarantee three years of good fitness from him, I'd absolutely do this deal.
  7. This. You can find a group of four players who can minimize their individual mistakes, be physical, and work well as a group in order to keep goals out for much cheaper than you can find people to create chances, boss the midfield, or net 20 goals
  8. All football fans have to irrationally and holistically hate any player who wants to leave their club.
  9. Don't see the point to this unless he doesn't rate at least two of McCarthy, Barry, Gibson, and Besic and wants to move them on. Doesn't seem like a major upgrade on any of them, unless I'm mistaken.
  10. Yes, for that price. I don't think he's a world beater but would absolutely be a quality attacking option for us in addition to Barkley, Deulofeu, Mirallas. Bring him in and ship McGeady out, if you ask me!
  11. Here's hoping. Villa is a prime example of what can happen when an owner loses interest or realizes that he's in a losing investment.
  12. You wait until we don't get the results he wants and doesn't have the cash to keep injecting into the club endlessly. That money will disappear and we'll be screwed.
  13. Agreed, I would've been ecstatic for this a few years back. However, I'd still have him now for depth if his wages were reasonable and the transfer fee wasn't big. Much better option than Kone or Niasse.
  14. If we can get the price we want, time to let him go. With the money we get for him, we can certainly find a strong replacement and have money left over. It's easier to find someone who can do a job at centerhalf and allow us to not concede goals than it would be to find a replacement for a playmaker or a #9. Stones isn't the heart of our defense from a leadership or organizational perspective either. As much as I'd like to see him blossom with us, it's time to let him have his move if the price is right.
  15. I want to see McCarthy come good again. At his best in 2013/2014, he was one of the most useful players I've ever seen in our midfield. Covered an immense amount of territory. Hopefully his lack of form has been due to poor confidence, naggling injuries, and a poor team and manager around him. If he never returns to top form because of injury accumulation (hamstring), it's a real shame because he was one I was thinking could boss our midfield for a long time and potentially grow into the captain role.
  16. Despite his big mouth, obvious daydreams of playing at a "bigger" club, and occasional absentee effort, he still is our best goalscorer of the past decade by a wide margin. He may not always do the dirty work and act as a complete striker, but he is regularly able to find the net. Believe me, I would love nothing more than for him to stop speaking to journalists every 5 seconds, but I would gladly have him back next year. *edit*-- Also, if his obvious frustration/desire for bigger things can be morphed into him demanding more from himself and other teammates (not accepting mediocrity), he could be the most powerful player in the dressing room. We'll see. Whether he stays or goes, Lukaku has a lot to demand from himself if he wants to be the world class player that he wants to be.
  17. . I think he's got the skillset and physical attributes to be a Championship level player here in England, but clearly he'll have to have more of a "Go-getters" attitude than he did while he was a youth player here.
  18. I'd swap Niasse for Galatasary's kit man.
  19. Agreed. I think he'll really shine when he goes on loan to a League 2 side
  20. I figured I couldn't be the one breaking this news! Pardon me, I'm 5 hours behind the civilized world.
  21. Pienaar, Hibbert, Osman all released. Stanek too.
  22. Quality player when fit. Unfortunately that's all too infrequent. I imagine the new manager will either deem him a part of our plans, or move him on in the next twelve months.
