  1. Really sad about this. His years of being a true impact player are behind him, but what a professional.
  2. If he moves, very appreciative of his four years at the club. Class professional and player, and I would love to see him stay as a squad player, but no fan can ever blame a player for leaving in order to get weekly football.
  3. Would've been a good signing back when we were debating Straq vs Anichebe up front, but there is no point in bringing someone like Wood in. Is clearly inferior to our other forwards and doesn't offer any desirable dimension to the team.
  4. On that matter, is David Henen contracted to us?
  5. The door isn't closed for him. Would love nothing more for him to stay and fight for his place. If he does well, hopefully he'll regain his confidence and sign a new contract and quit this nonsense of trying to leave. Then he'll realize what it means to play for a badge he actually cares about.
  6. Martinez is much better on tv than he is as a manager. Clearly he had fallings out with so many of our players. Lovely man but completely lacks the directness needed to manage professional footballers.
  7. Romey's having nightmares of Bilyaletdinov on the leftwing and Heitinga in midfield as we speak.
  8. I didn't know Callum Connolly was rated as a Premier League caliber player.
  9. Would be a good, reliable defender to have in the mix. Especially since I'm guessing this could very well be Jagielka's last season for us and Williams is aging as well.
  10. I'll add one more thing since I've been pretty opinionated on the matter, and that is that it doesn't take a silly armband to stand up and be a leader. Especially for people like Rooney, he will set an example of a winning mentality and any young player in the squad will follow his example and listen to him when he speaks up. Captain or not. And any player who wants to make themself a leader by demonstrating an excellent work ethic, high standards for themself, and a willingness to communicate with their teammates I'm sure will be welcomed, armband or not.
  11. At least he's not calling him "Ronnie" or "Ron Ron"
  12. Really think Magaye Gueye should be our captain. Heard he physically can not speak below 130 decibels and has a history of physically abusing referees and innocent animals. Leadership that!
  13. Great player, not a 50m pound player... not even in this market.
  14. Still think we may need more wide men/forwards. Mirallas is inconsistent, Lennon is just not a gamechanger... He's a depth player, Lookman is young and has yet to confirm that he's going to be a true impact player and Bolasie won't feature for months to come and who knows what he'll look like after. Does everyone think we are good at the #9 position? Are Rooney and Sandro enough? I would love to have one more true center-forward with quality. I guess a lot of people here think Calvert-Lewin will come through, but isn't he more of a second striker and he, like Lookman, hasn't provenhimself quite yet. As for centerback, I would love to pick up a veteran that can be proven cover on a short term contract. Doesn't have to be a world-beater, but Jagielka is aging (as is Williams), and Funes Mori is out injured.
  15. I just checked their squad and saw that Jan Mucha (AKA the Slovakian Buffon) does not play for them, so we should handle this.
  16. Are there any decent players available on loan? Probably no one who would be a true difference maker, but with several players on long term injuries and the extra games with the Europa League, I wouldn't mind bringing in a few on loan for depth.
  17. Surely that's just to maintain depth for the U-23/U-21 efforts and not the coaches thinking he will ever make the first team here?
  18. I look at that lineup and realize just how good of a lineup Southampton had. A little bit of depth added to that first 11 and they could've had an outside run at the top 4.
  19. Think he could be good, long-term cover for us, but the problem is that young players don't develop by only playing 15-20 matches per season and most young footballers want to play week in week out, so I ultimately end up seeing him getting sold to a Championship side. He could do very well then and potentially end up with a lower half PL side (like Adam Forshaw). Shame, I really like this lad as I have a soft spot for someone who also has done so well in school. Seems like most footballers either aren't academically gifted or don't choose to develop that side of themselves because they think they don't have to.
  20. The day this forum develops a significant Oz presence is the day all civility is lost.
  21. Don't have any problem with having some cover, especially a versatile player who can play both left and right back.
  22. Having been a part of several organizations, not every good leader I've encountered is the type-A, dominant, outspoken type. A leader must command respect, set an example, and be able to convey their message/values but that can take shape in many forms.
  23. Better idea, Either he signs a contract or we loan him to the Russian league or the Indonesian League with us paying his wages.
  24. What access does this guy have to Everton's commercial department?
