  1. Hopefully he's good enough to warrant a shot here.
  2. Dude. Kane has averaged better than 1 in 2 over the past three years and he basically averaged a goal a match last year....
  3. I think there's a player in there, we just need to get him experience and utilized in the right position/formation
  4. Not sure if I agree or disagree with that, and I am not sure if he sees it that way or not. I also don't think it's a good look to quit a job 10 matches after starting it. There is too much a culture of sacking managers but also of managers being too quick to quit. Pochettino was able to jump from Southampton to Spurs. Rodgers jumped from Swansea to Liverpool, Moyes from us to Man U. In addition, you never know if he has his eye on a job like Atletico, PSG, Monaco, one of the big 4-6 teams in Germany, etc...
  5. He's scored three goals for us this season, one of which was in garbage time against Arsenal. I wouldn't declare him an effective goalscorer yet
  6. He's managed them for about 10 matches and done real well. Why would he leave for us right now and inherit a dumpster fire in 18th when if he can get Watford into 7th, he could put himself in line for other big jobs.
  7. Center-Forward: We need a big #9/target man who is of first team quality and can make an immediate difference to the team. (Sandro, DCL, Niasse) Winger: Here is a space where we need to get more out of the current crop, and need to strengthen next summer IF Lookman and Vlasic don't end up developing into the quality of player that will get us into Europe. Lennon should probably move on at the end of the season and Mirallas' perpetual incosistency means he's no longer a star, but a squad player. By the end of Next summer, we need to have wide men we know are of the right quality. (Bolasie, Mirallas, Lennon, Lookman, Vlasic) Attacking Mid: We have plenty of quality and depth at this position. No reason to add (Barkley?, Klaassen, Rooney, Sigurdsson, Vlasic) Holding Mid: I think Schneiderlin is a quality player and with confidence and played in a cohesive system will lock down this role. My bigger question is not his defensive abilities but moreso his ability to be a deep lying player maker/distribute the ball positively like Barry or Gibson were capable of. I wish we still had Barry to rotate in for rest/form/injury, but I think Besic would be better utilized as a tough tackling shield to sit in front of the defense rather than another person with a license to go forward/wide like Gana and McCarthy. A team's star is its #9, it's engine is its #10, but the teams vision and brain comes from a defensive midfielder who can both put in necessary tackles to break up counters and more importantly distribute the ball in a positive and clever manner (Schneiderlin, Besic) Defensive Mid/Box to Box: Gana/McCarthy in form and with enough discipline cover a lot of ground. Davies deserves more time on the pitch and there's always Besic. Not an area to add to unless we're bringing in a true world class player. (Gana, McCarthy, Davies, Besic Centerback: We could use an immediate addition of a first team quality centerback in January. Williams and Jags neither have many years left, and I'm not sure Funes Mori is Keane's partner for the future. Definitely need to strengthen here. (Keane, Jags, Funes Mori, A. Williams, Pennington?, Browning?) Rightback: Martina clearly isn't good enough. We need to figure out by the end of next summer whether Kenny is ready to be a legitimate number 2 to Coleman, needs to go on loan, or if he's not good enough altogether. (Coleman, Kenny, Martina) Leftback: I honestly believe Baines needs to be replaced next summer. Would love to have him stay as a squad player, but he doesn't get up and down the pitch any more and his crosses and setpieces are no longer lethal. He's not just not the world class player he once was, but he's not even a top 6-8 leftback in the league. I don't think Martina, Galloway, or Garbutt are adequate cover either. (Baines, Martina, Galloway?, Garbutt?) Goalkeeper: Robles will (hopefully) leave the club next summer when his contract ends. He needs to go somewhere for the sake of his own career. Pickford is looking a good buy, though Stek is hardly great competition. A decent, experienced option, but not great. I'd love to buy a young, talented keeper and loan him out to a Championship side/lower Premier side who could eventually turn out competition for Pickford or could be sold for a profit (Pickford, Stek, Joel Robles)
  8. We'd have struggled against the big boys since I still think we would be finding our shape out, but its much easier to down the minnows when you have a 20+ year goalscorer up top (see: Lukaku)
  9. Not having a direct replacement for Lukaku pushed us into awful form. We would've picked up more points in Europe, against Burnley and Brighton if we had the right target man.
  10. I think we'll have a lot of performances we can be proud of in the coming weeks. Will we have a lot of results we can be proud of? I think the team is now energized, I think they are now organized, but we are still lacking a clinical number 9 who can finish chances in the box. Not to be a debbie downer, but I do worry that we don't have the players we need in the final third of the pitch bar the 10,000 #10's we now own.
  11. It's him or Gylfi as the number 10 for me. Rooney is a disaster up top and Gylfi is a disaster out wide. No room for both in the team.
  12. Agree that it's too late. Also think manager's are hesitant (and somewhat wise) to use their third sub before the 75-80th minute in case of an injury
  13. Luke Garbutt, but I don't think he's registered with the squad and is too old to count as a U21 or whatever the limit to that rule is. Brendan Galloway, but he's hardly inspired on loan at Sunderland and most say he's not a natural leftback
  14. I would argue that the consequence to that is that now Man City and Chelsea sign a lot of the players that would've previously gone to (especially) Arsenal and to a lesser extent, Man U
  15. Love to see Lennon's work rate. Definitely not our most gifted player, but he is really tracking back to provide cover for the young Kenny.
  16. Been meaning to say this. He hasn't been the world class player he was from 2011-2014 or so, and now he's hardly even the serviceable/quality leftback he's been leading up to this season.
  17. Shame. McCarthy's fitness levels are beginning to mirror that of Antolin Alcaraz and Darron Gibson
  18. One side of the debate: Everton are a historically significant football club The other: Everton aren't financially equipped to buy the very best players in the world right now, and thus regularly compete with the likes of Man U, Chelsea, Man City for the PL title and Bayern, Barca, and Real Madrid for the Champions League title Part of me thinks this has been a debate between two sides addressing different questions
  19. Agreed, but finances do play a big part in determining your league position. Maybe I'm missing the point and that praising ourselves and calling ourselves a big club has less to do with on the pitch expectations as it does just stroking our own egos.
