  1. We will have a brilliant squad when Pep Guardiola or someone else popularizes the 3-7-0 formation in football
  2. Besic will get my MOTM vote if he comes on and gets himself a straight red for a hard challenge
  3. Utterly clueless when we're dancing around the box. No man up top to charge towards the penalty spot/six yard spots and no one with an idea on how to make a clever run to get in behind...
  4. So, Harry Kane would score 60 in La Liga is what you're saying? Impressive There are plenty of quality sides in La Liga other than that the play is slower and not as physical.
  5. Must be the case. The lad just scored 20+ goals last season in Spain and was a Barcelona youth player. Clearly there's talent there...
  6. I would guess Holgate at Centerback, Kenny on the Right and Martina on the left as back/wingbacks
  7. I wanted to hit on this as well. Dyche would be dealing with higher quality players here and would thus need to play in a different style. Any manager worth a damn realizes he has to get the best out of the squad he has and find a style that will get those players results based on their quality. You wouldn't play the same style/tactics with Burnley's 11 as you would our 11 as you would Man City's 11. As impressive as Watford has been this year, Marco Silva's previous record is getting Sporting Lisbon to third (out of three big clubs in Portugal), winning a lot at Olympiacos (easy), and almost keeping Hull up when they should've been 10-15 points adrift at the bottom (Impressive in my opinion, but WHU gave Avram Grant their job after he was involved with a relegated Portsmouth, though kept dignity in a side that was doomed and a club in administration... Then WHU finished 20th that season). To me, Silva hasn't shown over a long period of time that he is the next great manager of the PL. He's certainly done okay, but the clamor after him while the apathy towards Dyche confuses me.
  8. I'm going to stick my neck out and said I've long been a Dyche fan. He can organize a side, gets them to work hard, and has had results with inferior caliber players. Will this translate to success at Everton? I don't know. He'll have to play less defensive football here, create a more attacking side, show aptitude in buying higher value players, and set out the team to at least have a chance to win every match. Who knows what ideas he'll have or what he's capable of doing with a better caliber of player. Whenever managers take a step up, it produces varied results, but I would argue the same for managers stepping down (Could Ancelotti manage our side? Much easier to set up Lewandowski, Robben, Ribery) Poch has been very successful in transitioning from Southampton to Spurs, Brendan Rodgers was mixed results at Liverpool, Moyes was a success then stagnation here, Martinez was a quick success turned calamity here. There are no guarantees, but there aren't guarantees with appointing Unsworth, a man with zero senior management experience, or a foreign manager with zero PL experience, or a manager who hasn't managed any club but a superclub before.
  9. A Gana/Davies type player with some sense of positional discipline?
  10. @Lowensda - That's definitely a bit glass half empty, but I agree with 75-80% of that. Good post.
  11. I think we need to go out and buy an experienced and first team ready centerback on the right side of 30. Williams has not been at it this year, Jags has been hit and miss and is 35 years old.
  12. He's gonna be a very good player for us once we sort out ourselves
  13. Unbelievable. They are arguing over comments made about a player signed from the abyss in Uruguay who didn't play 90 minutes for our first team
  14. Mark, Garbutt can literally not play for us. He's not registered with the Premier League squad.
  15. You'll have to elaborate on that one from an American not in the know, man. Does Huyton have a reputation?
  16. If you are speaking of a number ten, we have Gylfi, Rooney, Barkley, and Klaassen already. If you are speaking of a deep lying playmaker, I agree. We desperately miss Barry and his vision, and for as much was lacking in certain parts of his game as well as his fitness, Gibson was another very positive, pass master holding mid.
  17. I think Joey Barton is a reasonably decent lad who probably has bipolar disorder, or at the very least a serious problem with anger issues who can't control himself. I hope he's in therapy and remains so for the rest of his life. As for his Unsworth comments? Total bollocks.
  18. This. Love his effort, but he's a Straq with pace. Not good enough. Same goes for Unsworth, I don't know if he is going to be a great manager or a horrid one, but just because he's a blue and knows how to play lip service to the fans and the club doesn't mean he's the right man to manage the club (or good enough). He has a few really good press conferences, and people want to anoint him the next Mourinho. Just because a footballer has a high work rate and gives a lot of effort doesn't mean he's good enough for us, as the same goes for a manager who loves the club.
  19. This. I might be too harsh on him, but he should go to a quality Championship side that creates a bunch of chances to get experience working on his finishing and get confident
  20. This. The lad can't finish. A striker who can't finish is pointless.
  21. "The player Bilyaletdinov should've been" is a good sales pitch.
