  1. Happy to see Sweden in and Italy out after underachieving in 2010 and 2014. Absolutely hate it for Gigi Buffon though. Top class man and professional - perfect example for any fan or aspiring football player on how to act.
  2. Pickford Kenny Keane Jags Baines Lennon Gana Schneiderlin/McCarthy Lookman Niasse DCL Give Schneiderlin a kick up the ass and tell him to play to his ability... Davies has been poor and I don't like the combo of Gana and Davies since both can be quite undisciplined when it comes to positional play. Beni hasn't been terrible, but he's yet to add much.
  3. Does anyone think that Silva would just view us as another step in his career (one of the biggest complaints against Koeman...), where as Dyche might be more committed for the longer term and being English have a better understanding and appreciation of Everton's historical significance? Silva spent one year at Sporting, one at Olympiacos before leaving for Hull midseason, and is now already looking to quit Watford after 15 matches?
  4. Looks like he didn't play much at Birmingham.
  5. I haven't monitored him closely enough to have an opinion to be fair - Strange.
  6. Does Simeone speak English? From Argentina and never spent any time in an English-speaking country.
  7. Does he not track back and defend or something?
  8. We just need Keane to get a game and not look shit and we'll be rating our squad quite good
  9. Maybe they will sell him at a loss if this continues. I can think of a club in need of a striker.
  10. The original catalyst was owners injecting a ton of equity into the clubs but eventually they were able to create large commercial revenue streams through partnerships/sponsorships, etc..
  11. Chelsea and Man City have successfully created sustainable clubs due to massive commercial revenue streams
  12. Yeah, my big concern would be how would he fit Pulisic into that style. It obviously wouldn't affect Pulisic's development, since that happens at the club level, but rather stylistically. Also http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-need-next-mauricio-pochettino-13873877
  13. Give me Allardyce over any of those bar Martino, though the U.S. doesn't have the players to play the way Martino likes. MLS hires underwhelming.
  14. As an American, I think he'd be a good fit for our job. Defense was shambolic this qualifying cycle and needs sorting out, and his blood and thunder persona would do well over here.
  15. Kieran Tierney from Celtic as a potential leftback replacement, anybody?
  16. If he smashes it, we have our permanent manager. If he rescues us and has a decent season, we are in a better position to hire a long term manager because its in the offseason and the new man could immediately have a transfer window and hopefully we will have finished in a reasonable enough position/made a few signings that make us an attractive landing spot. Plus, Unsworth then has a decent managerial spell under his belt that he could take to another club (Please!) If we continue to struggle/look relegation material, then we'll be less excited and maybe need to look at a survival specialist in January or February. Seriously, in this league, 50 points will keep us safe by a mile and would probably mean that we are 8th or 9th in the league.... Just get us 50 points.
  17. Fair enough. I don't think I'm going to fully condemn any of the new signings as "not good enough" or "not the right player" (besides Cuco) until closer to the summer, but I think it's a decent shout to say that Gylfi's set piece prowess makes him a great fit for West Brom/Palace/Swansea or any lower half team that needs to create from set pieces, but maybe not for a side with our ambition. Time will tell.
  18. Here we go. Next big Toffeetalk debate to the death: London Blue vs Romey on Gylfi Sigurdsson. I knew it had gone a bit quiet! Just teasing, by the way. I'm quiet undecided on Sigurdsson - he has a quality delivery (not sure we've seen him) and Swansea fans seem to praise him, but he's yet to work himself into a single match for us.
  19. First off, bold statement. Not sure we've defined who our number 2 centerback is. Pretty clear Keane is the first centerback on the teamsheet when he's fit. Your problem is that Williams isn't up it anymore (at least hasn't been this season), Funes Mori is injured and the jury is still out on his quality (Shocking since he's been here two years) and Holgate's not quite ready yet.
  20. Big clubs will carry an extra player if he's a talisman, even if he makes fewer than 15-20 appearances per year. You're clearly not mad that our 35 year old club captain is in the squad, you're mad that he's the 2nd best centerback we have and not the fifth. I agree with you. Also, Williams is in his second year of a three year deal. He should be allowed to leave for a small fee or no fee next summer.
  21. First off Mark, Lennon would never accept a 1/2 year contract (or do you mean 1-2 years... Big difference) nor would he accept it. See my prior comment re: Klaassen on how this isn't non-league football Second, I think depending on his fitness and performance through the end of the year, Jags could potentially get an extension, though he obviously needs to become our fourth choice centerback or so over the next year or two and be there as more of cover and an ambassador rather than a weekly starting 11 guy.
  22. DCL pairs with both Niasse and Sandro nicely though I'm not sure Niasse and Sandro woud compliment each other
  23. If fans wouldn't get excited about Dyche, no way they'd accept Rowett. Completely agree that managing in the Championship is probably as competitive and difficult as the PL in certain ways, and there are good managers deserving of the step up in the league.
  24. Amazing that Claude Puel and David Moyes get a go while he doesn't get a look.
