Even this interview makes it seem like he understands that he is a part of righting the ship in a long term project. Honestly, so long as he's still got the fire in our belly, he can do a lot to refocus our fundamentals, build the players confidence, rescue the season a bit, and leave a pretty good dish to serve up for the next guy. One thing: It will just need to be decided VERY quickly after the season ends (maybe before the season ends) if he is going to stay on in 2018/2019 or leave after six months and take his payday.

There are clearly some players whose time with the club needs to end in January or the Summer. If anything, I think Sam will do a good job of clearing out some dead wood.

I think part of our problem is the signing of too many 18-20 year old players from the Championship and League One who show promise but are raw and ultimately may not cut it. Combine that with our senior squad aging and missing on some of our mid-career player signings, we are in a mess

If clubs have a perpetual shortlist of players, then they should probably have a shortlist of managers at all times given the turnover at that position in this sport currently.
