  1. No, I didn't . Mike is either deeply confused by the rules or loves to go on long winded rants about them. I'm guessing the former? It has changed - apparently Fair Play and FA Cup 2nd place used to potentially qualify, but not anymore. Because the rules often change and some of us are quite thick.
  2. https://www.si.com/soccer/2017/12/19/7-jobs-david-moyes-definitely-could-not-do-despite-new-found-confidence-hammers-boss Thought you all would get a kick out of this.
  3. I want to say the rule is: The Top 4 gets Champions League 5th automatically gets Europa League The FA Cup winner gets Europa League The EFL Cup Winner gets Europa League If the FA Cup and/or EFL Cup winner already qualifies for Europe, the spot goes to the next highest placed team in the league?
  4. Manchester City and Arsenal both leading in their League Cup. Tomorrow will be Man U vs Bristol and Chelsea vs Bournemouth. Very real chance that the final four ends up being Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U, and Man City and/or the final is two of those big six teams that already will qualify for Europe through their league position. That would mean that 6th place would be a Europa League place, correct? And then if the FA Cup winner (or winner + 2nd place?) already is qualifed for Europe that 7th place would then become a Europa League place? Yikes - that could mean things falling in line for Burnley to play in Europe... or us or Leicester or Watford...
  5. Agreed. Unlikely we go down, but if we have a terrible run of form over the next month, we'll be right back in it. Crucial to pick up some more points during the holiday period.
  6. I don't rate Besic. He's done fuck all here and is ill disciplined.
  7. Keep 3 senior keepers. You run a risk that some 18 year old will be between the sticks at some point if not. Bolded players need to go. McCarthy has shown no ability to stay fit over the past few years and is a waste of a roster space unless his fitness improves. He is good enough though. Besic isn'tt good enough. Mirallas had some amazing moments his first few years here, albeit inconsistently. His time here has come and gone though.
  8. The return of the Moyesiah. Any job in the world? Get in!
  9. Quoting you and Haf - Kenny didn't properly execute that. Needed to clip his ankle and take the yellow. As for the reaction, I don't like our players rolling over, but you run the risk of getting yourself sent off and potentially banned for that. And then we'd have Holgate playing RB out of position, Cuco still at LB and either an unknown in Keane or Jags put back in CB.
  10. With the reaction, he's lucky he didn't upgrade himself to a red. Refs have gotten super inconsistent as to which altercations result in red vs yellow. I know hands to the face = red, but beyond that it's very inconsistent
  11. That's what? 5 for the year? I think there have been years where we haven't gotten 3 penalties in the PL all year...
  12. There we go. Also, I called 2-1 with DCL first goal. I think I'd rather us get a third goal than be right in the prediction league
  13. Up in NYC occasionally on my end and a decent chance I move there within 2-4 years given my industry - Will have to meet in person if that's the case.
  14. Decent sub would be to push Gylfi to the center and bring on Lookman to play out wide - or Vlasic
  15. Brilliant by Lennon... Holgate with the pass prior.
  16. Terrible pass by Pickford - If you're going to go long, don't fuck up and play it along the ground. Cuco giving them ample opportunity to knock it up that channel
  17. Funny - Holgate looks to take a few steps forward and play a pass into space whenever he can - A lot like Stones, albeit more conservatively. Who taught them both at Barnsley lol?
  18. Great touch - right idea to take it on but either needed more power or to go aerial and aim top corner.
  19. Just as much how the players are instructed to play as it is who is on the pitch. If Gana and the fullbacks are given the license to bomb forward, it could be much more attacking than we've previously seen this 11 play
  20. Funny - Often here in the U.S. with elections, political operatives say that voters often vote for a leader with the qualities they think the man they would be replacing are missing... There's probably some truth to that tendency in all personnel related decision making.
  21. Martinez is at best, no better than Allardyce, Koeman, and Moyes. Absolute head in the clouds Signed some utter dross too. I enjoyed his first season and then quickly realized that the man was a stubborn idealist who would drag us down the table, not improve it.
