  1. As an FYI, I believe he's the only one of our main young contributors who will have to be counted against the 25 man squad roster next year due to going over the age limit. DCL, Lookman, Kenny, Davies, Vlasic will all have at least one more year of not being counted against the roster limit. He's done well for me and seems a no brainer to stay with the squad based on performance alone. But I especially expect him to stay since Jags could very well be near retirement, Williams is hardly guaranteed a stay here given his aging, and Funes Mori should look to move on if he doesn't break into the regular back four upon return from his injury. It will be very different the following year though when we have to decide whether DCL, Lookman, Vlasic, Kenny warrant staying with the squad.
  2. I would be ecstatic to bring this one in, perhaps Dembele too and send Niasse out. However that'd almost certainly seal Sandro's fate as well. Don't think we will ultimately bring in both giving the way Sam's talking "maximum two players" No offense to Oumar, but he's a supersub at best and we know that we need to bring someone in besides DCL.
  3. I suggest you check out his goalscoring record at Celtic.
  4. I suggest you look at the current prices in the transfer market
  5. Fair enough. Very clear he can't play alone up top and he's not a proper wide man either. Which means we'd likely have to change shape to play him (and likely leave out Rooney, which is a scary thought). With that being said, I think if he played alongside DCL against some of the weaker opposition where we actually saw the ball and would throw players forward, we'd start to see him come good. He offered no end product today, but neither did everyone's favorite new player (DCL) and for the first time showed some willingness to do the dirty work.
  6. Shit. A 0-0 draw against the reigning champions? Decent result, albeit defensive. We rode our luck a bit and it could've ended 1-0 or 2-0 to them had they taken their (few) clear cut chances, but we could've very well nicked it 1-0.
  7. Went for Pickford but Schneiderlin did quite well. All three centerbacks did their jobs well bar Keane not burying the winning header and Williams almost gifting them an own goal.
  8. I thought he did well today in doing the dirty work... the stuff he has to do to adapt to the English game as opposed to Spain where he can only score goals and do fine. He made efforts and often succeeded in winning aerial battles, providing an outlet for DCL, and holding the ball up. He didn't do much when he did get an attacking position but none of us did today. It was DCL versus the Chelsea defense in the first half and DCL + Sandro in the second. Only support came sparingly from Sigurdsson (mostly anonymous today) and occasionally Kenny would bomb forward. As for poor purchase? Can't be described as one because he only cost 5.3m pounds - He was a Barcelona youth product who is young (22) and scored 20+ goals in a top league last year... Even if he doesn't make it here, the logic int he transfer made sense because it was a largely asymmetrical risk (finance concept). High upside, very minimal downside (low transfer fee)
  9. Changing the back four... interesting - Sam must really rate Jags and Keane over Williams and Holgate.
  10. Moshiri also injected a bunch of money into the club, used to pay down debt, apparently improve Goodison and FF, and also fund some of the player acquisitions. Wonder if any or much of that money is still sitting on the balance sheet in the form of cash or if its all gone. Our turnover was 58% of Spurs 210m pounds turnover from the prior season (2015/2016) - Waiting for Spurs results to be released at some point - if it is greater than 293m pounds in turnover, they've gained on us, if it's less, we've closed the gap. The gap could very well stay the same given that most of the money has come from new broadcasting revenue, of which all the clubs have benefitted from. Also, they've now had 2 consecutive seasons of Champions League football and tv money. It will be interesting to see how much the Sportpesa and Angry Birds deals help
  11. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2017/12/22/everton-posts-record-turnover-and-30m-post-tax-profit For those of you who don't know, I work in Finance, so I can provide some decent thoughts tomorrow (Friends coming over for dinner in a few minutes). Needless to say, I'm excited by this but want to see our results relative to Spurs and a few of the midtable sides to see if we're closing the gap, falling behind, or stagnating.
  12. Huddy's high work rate makes me wonder if they can play the way they do still in March-May... That and I don't think they have any squad depth - some injuries set in and fatigue, they could be pulled into this come the end of season. That being said, they continue to pick up plenty of points but also suffer some bad defeats. Brighton could slide because they don't have enough in the final third. I still think these two are much better than Swansea and West Brom - those two teams are DIRE and Stoke is in quite a crisis as well. Things change though and can change quick
  13. Too early to push him out the door for a player who we know has quality. McCarthy and Besic are both earlier in line to be moved on.
  14. Well, if youve noticed, you can win the presidency despite having fewer votes than your opponent - we don't value numbers as a society LOL In all seriousness, I didn't want to add 2 more because I haven't seen anyone of the standard of the previous 8
  15. In no order... Indicates my very new love of footy (January 2010) 1. Pirlo 2. Iniesta 3. Lahm 4. Messi 5. C Ronaldo 6. Zlatan 7. Kaka 8. Drogba
  16. My Huddersfield and Burnley predictions don't appear to be aging like fine wine
  17. That fraud Moshiri is really going over the top in his efforts to deceive!
  18. Palace playing very well right now and Huddersfield has been terrific in SOME of their matches. They could pick up next to nothing from these six and slide down or pick up some points and continue to surprise.
  19. Per my other thread - Clement sacked. Swansea, West Brom, Newcastle, and Stoke look in definite trouble at the moment. Barring a big turn around, the best any of these sides look like they can hope for is to finish just above the bottom three. Bournemouth are in a precarious position and concede enough goals to make me think they won't finish too many points off 18th, but play well enough to make me think they can avoid relegation. Brighton have been on a poor run and another poor month will really drag them right into the mix and there is a ton of negative sentiment around Southampton and their manager.
  20. Paul Clement sacked. They are so poor, but I think it's just as much the players he has to work with as it is his managerial ability - shame. If you're not going to back a manager in the transfer market coming off a season where you barely avoided relegation, how did they expect to be in any other position? Swansea, Newcastle, West Brom, and Stoke are the sides in real, real trouble.
