  1. if i'm not mistaken they are the record holder in CL wins. in the earlier part of this millenium, Spain was the best competition in the world with valencia, barcelona and real madrid doing what arsenal liverpool manu and chelsea are doing now. So they're a very good team in a very good league .. Liverpool beat them handily and now they're on the brink of acquiering one of the best players in the world ... they're always a force to be reckoned with.
  2. welcome .. this is by far the best (everton) forum on teh internets.
  3. Shame about Murray, I'd put my money on Federer now. also, I love how you Brits discuss the French Open under the label "Looking Forward to Wimbledon" .
  4. lol that's hilarious .... watch the writer struggle as he's explaining how arteta got in ahead of ronaldo, or why Pienaar is in there . the comment section is the cherry on the cake. EFCTaxi FTW!!! .
  5. pretty funny .. allthough I prefer him in his Borat role.
  6. ---------------howard----------------- neville --- jags --- lescott --- baines --- arteta -- moutinho -- pienaar --- -------- fellaini --- cahill -------------- ------------- yakubu ------------------ bench : rodwell, osman, jacobson, hibbert, vaughan, gosling, anichebe, yobo, saha, nash. I wouldn't mind if we spend our whole offseason budget on that guy .. that lineup looks like a top-4! c'mon Joao.
  7. Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings. the world is a vampire :evil2: .
  8. The penalty ranges from 25 to 50 euros for first time offenders (to be decided by the judge in front of which you appear) .. if you don't vote twice it's 50 to 125 euros .. and if you don't vote 4 times in 15 years you get struck from the register meaning you basicly can't get a job as a civil servant. But just like you I'd never imagine not voting, I live in such a small village it only takes about 10 minutes anyway . I read on the BBC website that the European elections in the UK are on thursday? Is this always on a weekday? Do you have to take a day off if you want to vote ?
  9. well you've missed some excellent excellent games this year (Cavs - Magic games 1 through 4 for starters) ... I actually quite like the Warriors, you have the second best crowd in the league (after Utah ), however last offseason set you back a few years with some dumb moves by Mullin (if he's still the GM). I'm looking forward to this years finals, shouldn't be a blowout.
  10. I was just wondering how many of you were planning on voting? (and for which party? ) And what is the regular turnout for European Elections in the UK? In Belgium voting is mandatory so voter turnout isn't really a measure of how much influence people perceive the EU to have on their lives.
  11. worst case scenario he gets a translator at his side at all times and has his assistant coach yelling on the sidelines instead of him .. don't see the problem. language is just a way to communicate, what is relevant is -what- you communicate .. and that's where I think, given his record, that he'll be succesful. Scolari's style is one of big gestures and motivational speaking (language more important than substance), Ramos is simply overrated and only acquainted with Spanish football .. both didn't work ... Ancelloti knows football, that's why I made the comparison to Ferguson. There are enough other examples (Sollied in Belgium/Netherlands/Greece, Gerets in Turkey, Mcclaren in Netherlands, ...)..
  12. I disagree .. a team with a German, lots of Africans, couple of Portuguese, Brazilian, some French and God knows what else .. does it really matter that much if the coach speaks only broken english? Or was the reason Hiddink did well that he gave them all a crash-course in "speaking English with a Dutch accent"? Is there any foreigner on ManU who has ANY idea what Ferguson is talking about? A lot of coaches have succeeded in countries where they didn't 100% master the language, it's all about tactical minds and recognizing opportunities .. I don't see the language thingy as a problem at all. Ancelloti is a good coach, with success at the highest levels of football. I'm sure he'll do well. I'm especially interested to see which transfers he's gonna make.
  13. which team do you support JD ? The lowly Wizards? . I'm a lifelong Utah Jazz fan so I'm also not too fond of the Lakers but right now I hate Orlando even more for costing me money by beating the Cavs.
  14. 7m for another 5 ft 9 inch midget in our midfield .. I thought we already had enough of those.
  15. LA Lakers vs Orlando Magic ... place your bets .... I'm going with LA in 6 but then again I also had Cleveland in 4. lewis, turkoglu, howard, lee, alston versus kobe, fisher, gasol, bynum, ariza .... seems to favor LA, with Odom the better benchplayer I can't really see the Lakers loose. Both Bynum and Gasol can score, something which Ilgauskas and Varejao clearly couldn't.. Kobe is only a little bit less dangerous than Lebron but still otherworldly and Ariza is a top defender ... the point guards cancel each other out. I'm thinking an average of 6 fouls per game for Howard, a nice choke job by Turkoglu and irrelevant performances by the Orlando backcourt.
  16. ² first half of fellaini was the best he has played this season .. he won that header against alex for the assist to Saha and was very composed on the ball ... finally showed his good feet with good passing and nice flick ons ... but there was noone to back him up.. I wouldn't have taken him away from his offensive midfield position at halftime, instead would have brought on Rodwell for Osman, and Gosling for Hibbert, with Neville moving to RB.. I feel like Moyes neutralized our best player.. also fellaini ran is ass off today and only committed one foul that was silly. baines-pienaar linkup play didn't go very well because bosingwa is too fast .. baines coming over the top in the back of the defense never worked because bosingwa closed him down .. Essien should at least got a yellow card for that vicious tackle on the knees of big Mo.. I guess he sensed he was being outplayed. Hibbert was atrocious .. I don't mind if he doesn't have the talent , we knew that, but at the very least you have to put in the EFFORT.. it's ok to join the attack but if it doesn't work out you have to sprint back to mark your man.... I saw him jogging back three times today giving malouda a big lead ... also on that first goal, he was just hanging around in the box instead of closing out on malouda.. all his crosses were also very poor, maybe it was too hot for him on the day (at least I hope that's the excuse) ... we absolutely need a new right flank.
  17. Well said Bill.. this was a thoroughly enjoyable season and we're set for great things in the coming season with young and returning talent. Shame we lost but you've got to give it to chelsea, they had a good game.
  18. and any topic with the name "kaka" will inevitably end up in a discussion about ronaldo .
  19. prone to mistakes and had an unsuccesful spell at newcastle ... he's been looking for a transfer to a top team for two years now and still hasn't gotten it.. this year he had yet another goodbye party with the fans (his third if I'm counting correctly) .. one player I certainly hope we don't sign. aston villa have just launched a 5.6m bid for Juhasz , a defender for Anderlecht .. he's a much better defender and would fit in with us .. he can play both LCB and RCB and is a threat in the air.
  20. month of july roadtrip from Chicago to LA with three friends to celebrate our graduations.. looking forward to it.
  21. half expected that to be about Newcastle United . sad story tho.
  22. uh i don't think they'd make a mistake like that ... newcastle are out.
  23. this here article : http://freethinker.co.uk/2008/11/08/how-an...nto-an-atheist/ quite interesting .
