well we've been playing a lot better as of late.. beating Turkey and Hungary at home, although those games didn't mean much. Most players are now reaching their mid 20's.. Kompany-Vermaelen-Fellaini (+ Van Buyten) is a very solid center defensive block. Add to that Defour-Hazard-Witsel in the midfield and that's a very good team.

You knew there would be two good teams .. and Turkey is beatable. Getting Austria was a gift. I'm liking this draw.

and if you play Judas Priest backwards you can hear the devil.

I don't understand how some of you think Fellaini should have been sent off. Pienaar maybe, but he's the only one on the Everton side. That Greek oaf should be banned for multiple games.. that "tackle" he made will always result in injury for the opposing player. I almost lost it when I saw it happen. Two feet forward, really ?? When he was walking off the field gesturing like it was him who was injured I almost boarded a plane to Liverpool so I could bitchslap him all the way back to Greece. EDIT : after watching MOTD, Greek oaf did get hurt. Sending off was correct though. Fellaini could have gotten a yellow himself. Also: Howard, wtf, I didn't notice during the match how much he is to blame for their goal. Very frustrating game, disappointing how we played 11 versus 10. Moyes should have brought on another striker sooner IMO.

Well for you British it wouldn't be so much of a problem, but as we Belgians seem to be occupied as soon a war starts (last time our resistance lasted almost two weeks!) I'd take peace over any Everton title. However if Everton signed Defour, I'd agree to a two month Kraut-occupation in exchange for a Carling cup title .

Maybe he's improved a lot in one year but it seems to me that his "failure" at Munich last year proves that Everton are a great club for him. Right there behind the CL teams but on any given day good enough to have a chance to beat them.

When Fellaini was still at Standard Defour played in a more attacking role and was very good at it. When Mo left, Defour had to take the defensive midfielder position. So in the words of wikipedia : "He is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, centre midfielder and defensive midfielder." I compared him to Pienaar because just like him Defour just keeps running and never gives up. He's just as good technically but is a better passer with great vision. He won the best player in Belgium award at age 19 (he's 21 now) and has been captain of the best team in Belgium for two years now. He would be an instant hit at Goodison. Too good to be true I fear.

I'd be ecstatic if Moyes signed Defour, but I fear he might go to a richer club. If Pienaar leaves, Defour would easily fill his role and then some. BTW, with regards to topic title: it's Axel, not Alex.
