  1. We did manage to last one round more than England, and got more than twice the votes you did .
  2. What is the stadium situation in Spain/Portugal? How much investment is needed? Would they seriously grant the WC to two countries that might go bankrupt because of it. I would bet on England. Best stadiums, great football country ... I don't see any downside other than the fact that the English tabloids have been hurling mud at the FIFA committee. If Belgium/Holland can survive the first round of voting maybe, just maybe, they stand a chance. Not likely though .
  3. That's the same way this whole North vs South Korea thing started.
  4. but at a price and I think Ian has a problem with that.
  5. What the hell was Alonso's problem with Petrov? There's no reason what so ever why Petrov had to let him pass. First of many for Vettel.
  6. please don't let arteta take this freekick.
  7. Doesn't sound any worse than what Yakubu did at the World Cup. And that was from 2 yards out .
  8. Completely agree with both of you, except with the fuck off part. At no point during the time he had a contract with Everton did anyone think it was a bad deal for Everton (like vandermeyde or bily now..). Apparently playing out his contract with Everton and then moving on is what he thinks fits best into his carreer path. When a club signs a player to a contract, do they honestly think of the resale value as a factor in deciding how much the player should be paid? I don't think so. So whatever happens it will be a win for Everton. Either in the fact that he signs a new contract and we keep a quality player or he leaves and Everton will have had a player that was well worth every £ he was paid. In the (adapted) words of Ivan Drago in Rocky IV : "If he leaves, he leaves."
  9. I know this says something about modern day society but I don't know what. http://www.glowfoto.com/viewimage.php?img=11-053403L&rand=9401&t=jpg&m=11&y=2010&srv=img6
  10. The National - High Violet (album). After being alive for 26 years I can honestly say that this is the best album I've ever listened to.
  11. The National - Bloodbuzz Ohio. . brilliant song.
  12. if he came over, first practice Anichebe would break his leg.
  13. If you tweet something it will appear on the "home" page of all your followers and on your own "home" page. I'm not totally sure what happens if you reply to someone. I do know that if someone replies to a tweet, that tweet doesn't appear on the "home" page of all his followers... presumably it appears only on the "home" page of the person who the reply is meant for. But as I said, I don't tweet, I just follow.
  14. I LOVE twitter. I don't tweet myself but I use it to follow people that I share an interest with.. for example Neil Degrasse Tyson and Sean M Carroll tweet regularly about science (physics) (mostly posting links of interesting articles that I would never have found myself) .. Dawkins has a twitter account aswell, but I don't follow him. Also follow some of my favorite sports writers who tweet links to articles they found interesting or have an interesting observation. Follow some comedians .. etc. It's a misconception that people only use it to tell the world they just had a sandwich or whatever..
  15. How about something on "California Proposition 19, the Marijuana Legalization Initiative" ?
  16. Other downsides are that he's a party animal and that he's mind numbingly dumb .. He has a tattoo on his right arm which says "VINI, VIDI, VICI". After it was pointed out to him that it should say "veni", his response was that he's sure it should be "vini" because he checked it like 20 times on the internet... and his friends agree.
  17. I agree with you there. Very good control of the ball, excellent shot on goal and a good cross. I assume he'd cost around €4m (?). By the way, it's written Legear but it's pronounced "Le-jar". Not "Le-gear" like the Bilbao commentator does in that clip Steve_E posted .
  18. You couldn't find a foreigner to agree on that with you. The Dutch league and the Belgian league have a referee-exchange system and imo the added value of that is 0. There isn't a sport in the world that doesn't have fans complaining about referees. Either accept it as an element of the game, or start using technology for everything. .
  19. In season 5 they focus even more on Dexter "the family man". It's still very enjoyable but 5 episodes in, the main storyline of the season (ice truck killer, bay harbour butcher, jimmy smits, john lithgow) is still not clear to me. Best thing so far is that Julia Styles is the guest star actor for this season.
  20. Maradona: I am Happy Octopus Paul Is Dead http://sports.peacefmonline.com/soccer/201010/98597.php Germany defeated Argentina 4-0 in the quarter-finals, which effectively ended Maradona’s tenure as the coach of the South American giants, and ‘El Diego’ has now expressed his delight at the demise of Paul. “I am happy your psychic octopus is gone; it’s your fault we lost the World Cup,” the account named Diego Maradona tweeted on Tuesday.
  21. "I already voted above" .. what if I only wanted to vote "below"? .
  22. 1.Wenger 2.Ancelotti 3.Ferguson 4.Moyes 5.Mcleish Wenger's teams consistently play the most beautiful football in the league. Ancelotti won everything there is to win with AC Milan and got Chelsea back on track after Mourinho. He has to be high on the list. I place him ahead of Ferguson because he's been very successful with different teams.
  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4o-TeMHys0 . The Rent Is Too Damn High ! .. vote for this man . "As a karate expert I will not talk about anyone up here .. ".
