Watching first episode right now. Just finished the books aswell. Don't think I would enjoy the series as much if I hadn't read the books. Hard to follow otherwise.

Paris Nice is a big win for Wiggins but it's not comparable to the tour de france. It's generally won by expert time trialists who can manage in the mountains. Whereas in the TdF the focus is more on the climbing. But more to the point, I don't see how "Team Sky" has a lot to do with the personal achievements of Wiggins. Can it be said that without Team Sky he wouldn't have become an elite cyclist in some other team? Is there an influx of British talent in the peloton? I don't see it.

The big fear is that he'll never finish the series .. still has two books to write. I wouldn't compare it to LOTR .. it's more like "The First Law" or "The Night Angel", which are both better imo. I heard "Malazan Book of the Fallen" was more like LOTR .. will be starting that series soon.

Bad times for writers though.. The music industry took a big hit when everybody started downloading mp3's, but at least musicians could still make a lot of money touring .. what does a writer have to do now that all his books are out there "for free"?

I have a Kindle (4th gen) .. got it for Christmas and absolutely love it. It's small, doesn't weigh much , yet reads just like a real book .. Ideal for on the Train, in bed, etc.. Fits in the pocket of my coat so I always have it with me, got about 10 books on it (mix of fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, thriller, "literature").. Kicking myself that I didn't get it sooner. There's a lot of free books (legal) : http://www.gutenberg.org/ . In the not so legal category I've yet to search for a certain book and not find it.

I don't see the value of playing both gibson and fellaini at this point .. we could win this if we push on and Moyes brings on an attacker for either one of them, preferably gibson.

Homeland. -- Centers on Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody, who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq, and Carrie Mathison, a driven (and possibly unstable) CIA officer who suspects he might be plotting an attack on America. Really intense, great show. Damien Lewis (Band of Brothers) is the lead actor. Definitely one of the best things of 2011, together with season 4 of Breaking Bad.
