  1. I dont fully understand how the mrs gove email fits into this. Dracle and murdoch i get, but who is henry and who was it adressed to?
  2. Wouldn't one sign of being non-racist be that you don't support someone (Farage) who is? What non-racist would elect a racist to represent him or her? Maybe not -all- UKIP voters are racist but at the very least that would indicate they don't find racism that important of an issue.
  3. Fox News sides with Brexit? Shocking. Still wondering what Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, .. make of this. I thought I saw Fred Phelps holding a Brexit sign, but apparently he's been dead for over a year. Well he did say "From my perspective" ..
  4. I would hate that . Wouldn't mind if Italy won the whole thing this year. Individually, one of the weakest generations of Italians in years, but together they're a very good team. Also one of my favorite anthems, together with the Brazilian one. I'm pretty neutral towards England; although when you see (non-Everton) players that you root against for a whole year, you tend to dislike them when they wear the England shirt aswell. Would have preferred an England - France quaterfinal, but was rooting for Iceland after 10 mins.
  5. You are probably right about Low, good point. Last USA game I saw was at the WC in Brazil. He had them playing great football in their last game but maybe JK didnt have much to do with that and it was just the players giving it their all.
  6. Because Lukaku thrives if the team he plays for is the lesser side, being pushed back; he then gets loads of space on the counter attack where it doesn't really matter if the ball bounces a couple of metres away every time you touch it; just run and hit it as hard as you can when in sight of goal.
  7. This. If the Eastern European countries hadn't joined in 2004, this whole immigration issue wouldn't have played. You don't see scores of Dutch crossing the Channel looking for a better life. They should have waited to join till they were economically more advanced.
  8. Wouldnt Poland veto such a deal? Does seem like the other 27 will have to budge on the immigration issue. Commenters on dailymail.co.uk are pretty firm in their stance that they wont be buying a bmw any time soon.
  9. Klinsmann was good for Germany though (as a manager).
  10. When do they choose running mates? Any good candidates there?
  11. Finally the solution. Hugh Laurie ‏@hughlaurie 6h6 hours ago For Scots' sake: what if the English now had a referendum to leave the UK, so the Scots could retain EU membership? Are we all happy? Actually makes a lot of sense .
  12. I think the common theme is that the fathers of Lukaku, Batshuayi and Fellaini all played professional football themselves. None of them were as successful as their sons though, so maybe they're trying to live their dream of playing for a big club through them.
  13. Marseille had an agreement with Palace, but Batshuayi didn't want to join a team that will be fighting relegation (quote from his father). So he didn't have a personal agreement with Palace. Chelsea reportedly has now offered 40m € so still a better deal for Marseille aswell.
  14. There are numerous bilateral treaties that make up the relationship between the EU (as a supranational organisation) and Switzerland (a country). When one party no longer meets obligations on its end, the other party tends to no longer want to meet theirs. How is that anything but normal behaviour? The Swiss held a referendum, because of the result of this referendum, they are in breach of a pre-existing agreements with the EU. The EU then no longer held up its part. You then call the EU a dictator. First of all, a country (or supranational organisation) can't be a dictator over another country. Secondly, a dictatorship means oppressing your own citizens.. The EU was actually protecting the rights of its citizens from unlawful action from the Swiss. -- Also, it's not the EU saying it will be tough on the UK. It's countries like Sweden, The Netherlands, France, Spain, who have all stated the UK shouldn't be expecting any special treatment. Are all of them dictatorships?
  15. I don't understand why you would say the EU likes referenda; they're purely a national matter. ?? Personally I'm very much against referenda because I believe elected politicians in a representative democracy are much better positioned to decide most issues. You can't run a country on populism.
  16. I remember that one. It came up recently in a debate I saw on whether or not it's a good idea to organise referenda. Apparently because of the result of the immigration referendum the Swiss were thrown out a lot of EU programs (Erasmus among others) and Swiss diplomats and politicians are now bending every which way to try to get around the result of the referendum.
  17. I constantly hear "older" people rave about Di Stefano and Puskas but don't know enough to include players that played back then. So I'll just go with ten players that scare me if they play for the opposing team Ronaldo Messi Hazard Ibrahimovic Muller De Bruyne Bale Suarez Aguero Payet
  18. As of yet no personal agreement between Batshuayi and Palace though. Belgian media reporting he was hoping to be sold to a better team. As Steve_E said it's 38m EUR, still "only" 31m £ .. (but who knows how many pounds it'll be tomorrow) ... If you'd ask hafnia if he thinks Batshuayi is 3m£ better than Lukaku, I'm betting he'd say yes .
  19. I read them so the red wedding episode was no surprise; but as you said the TV show is ahead of the books. Just didnt think they would kill so many important ones in one swoop.. especially after "going back" on killing john snow. Loved the high septon carachter (a perfect mix of abu bakr al baghdadi and pope francis), maybe the lord of light can bring him back as well but I doubt it :-)
  20. Quite impressed you called it. Never expected them to kill of so many characters at once that were prominent throughout season 6.
  21. I get the sentiment that the Brexit has given pro-EU voices a boost (reading French, Dutch and Belgian newspapers (not something I usually do but the Brexit thing has got my head spinning looking for every bit of information out there), see Peter H comment about Sweden, Podemos losing in Spain, ..). Media are highlighting: - the google thing (what is EU? on the 24th of june), - the fact that so many British citizens regret their vote for leave/didn't think it was actually going to happen, (not sure this is true for a significant number of Brits, but it is being reported like that) - huge coverage is given to the vandalism to the Polish cultural center in London and to the messages left in the mailbox of some polish families with the words "Polish vermin" written on them. - this morning on the radio they were talking about how soon the banks would be leaving London .. in essence: nothing positive about the Brexit. I heard a guy at my local tennis club (who knows jack shit about anything) say that article 50 should be invoked right now so England can be thrown out of Euro 2016.. maybe anti-EU is turning into anti-UK for the dumbest among us. Instead of the anti-EU parties, it seems politicians who say they're going to be tough on Britain will now get the populist vote.
  22. And they have by far the best manager. Really impressed with conte.
  23. It is strange of mirallas to come on here and just state he hates all welsh people (??), but it is true that noone in belgium thinks the national team is better than they are. Its the foreign press that drools over the team because of all the premier league players, but so far this generation of belgians has beaten noone of note in official games. May the best team win indeed.
  24. Populist party Podemos takes a big hit in Spain's elections. No Brexit momentum for Spain..
