That’s 6th sorted for West Ham but 7th and Europa Conference League is still open. Beat Man C (easier said than done) and I’d guess we’d achieve 7th place.

Seamus - couldn’t do it for 90mins but his covering and drive was excellent tonight. Get a worthy first choice right-back and Seamus will be the perfect back-up as Baines was for Digne.

I feel so much more assured with him in goal now - like many, he’s completely changed my opinion of him and has probably been our most consistent player over the 2nd half of the season. Fair play to him.

We could be ruing not getting that 1 point vs Sheff Utd to factor out our shitty goal difference. West Ham will get 6th and I expect Leicester to beat Spurs. Can we pull something out the bag against Man City?! Unlikely but who knows?! Europa Conference is still a possibility - whether people want it is another question. I personally do.

To be fair, the modern full-back is an attacking position. Centre backs and ‘defensive’ midfielders will dominate the tackles/ defensive stats.

That’s an image for a link - I’d guess defensive and attacking stats are considered when doing the full rating - but I guess the displayed stats fit the narrative of the article.

He’s statistically been the best left-back in the league in each of his 3 seasons here.

This 100%! Sadly, it’s been the same for the past 3/4 years. We’ve spent so poorly over the last few years and made far too many expensive mistakes.

Problem is - we need to get rid of Bernard and even Iwobi too before even considering Richarlison - that’s with Bolasie and Walcott already going. That leaves us with James and Gordon who could play in an attacking wide position. I’m far from happy with Richarlison this season but I’m not ready to give up on him.

Put a fast as fuck winger on the right and a decent right back behind him and all of a sudden Dom (and Richarlison back on the left) looks a much better player. As a striking partnership Dom and Richy have very little telepathy but I do think both will thrive with more attacking quality in this squad.

No argument - West Ham were never the favourites for a top 4 place and they’ve wobbled since Rice has been out. Liverpool, sadly have to be favourites for the top 4 on the basis that Leicester and Chelsea have to play each other. We should be winning our next 2 games and then let’s see what that looks like. Ancelotti’s never finished outside the top 6... we shall see.

No surprises here really - not a single vote for the 4 first team signings made in Ancelotti’s time plus Digne and DCL. Plus the core players of Pickford, Richarlison, etc with very few votes. Another window where the new signings become our ‘best’ players and we’ll be right up there.

Maybe we’d have played a different system - maybe not a direct replacement for Gueye but Gbamin and Delph were clearly bought to strengthen that area in Gueye’s absence. It’s impossible to say what Gbamin we signed because, realistically, he’s not going to be the £25m player we signed. Physically and psychologically, 2 years out for anyone is a huge ask to come back from.

Agree with the first part and Gomes did look good but he had 2 massive moments where he really should have done better. That first one especially- the pass to Richarlison was not hard - that’s the difference between taking all 3 points and the frustration of another missed opportunity.

...but at £12m if rumours are true. Sell Gomes for more and he’d be a good bit of business. I’d still want my rough diamond too though.
