That’s our major problem - players who offer little or nothing taking up squad places. 100% we’d have signed more attacking players last summer had it not been for Bolasie, Walcott (still had to contribute 50%), Bernard, Iwobi and Tosun - £200m+ investment when you add wages etc. We’ve got the money to cope with this but FFP meant we couldn’t add as many as we needed. Hopefully, we’re going to stick fingers up at FFP after the Super League shite.

I agree but the problem’s much more than just Gylfi so if we can’t get them sold then we can’t let them all rot - sadly, we’ll see some of them in the squad next season. I want Brentford to come up but am clinging on to an emotional return to Swansea for him this summer if they do.

Problem is, we can’t do this with Gylfi, Gomes, Iwobi, Delph, Tosun and Bernard - all will be under contract next season - expensive contracts! Probably over £600k a week there and god knows how much in transfer fees/ signing on fees. Sadly, this can’t just be written off and we need to claw back what little we still can on these players. Each one is very easy to replace/upgrade - the problem is, finding someone to take them off our hands. Over to you Marcel!!!

I was dreading coming into this thread with Carlo out shouts. I agree this squad is dreadful and completely lacking in key areas and the majority of the ‘problems’ are very high earners. It is a mess but for most of the season it looked like Carlo had found a way of us getting into Europe. Yes, ultimately, we failed and yes, Carlo must shoulder some of that blame... BUT he needs support now as he’s already said what (we all know) the problem is; attack/pace. He’s made us pretty solid defensively for the most part and think he will build on this with more ‘exciting’ signings which will allow us to remain solid but be a bit more expansive. Sadly, I think much of our business will be determined by who we sell but I think Carlo is definitely the man to lead this. Thankfully, I think he’s settled and bought into the project so don’t see him going anywhere.

I’d put that more down to the chances we create for them rather than the strikers finishing them (bar the Palace game). Add some pace down the right flank and it’ll create space and chances that haven’t been there this season.

His boyhood club Leeds supposedly had him lined up to sign at that time too.

I would like another striker but that’s just being greedy!!!

Bit of perspective... The last sentence is the important bit for me... we’ve been awful for a long time. It needs longer than 18months of ‘the right man’ to sort years of instability.
