Reading up on Galtier, he sounds such an exciting prospect. What he did at Lille was incredible albeit in a ‘lesser’ league but all the same, look at the players they’ve sold and look at the fees - the complete opposite to what we’ve been doing. The players leaving on a free this week show such poor management; there’s more to follow too - we can’t continue like this. No one wants to be a selling club but it’s even worse spending £20m+ on Bolasie, Walcott and Tosun types to get nothing back and not improve. It’s been managed better under Brands but still nowhere near good enough.

My votes… Conceicao - seems nasty and someone who would get into this lot. He’s won some big games over the past couple of seasons - just get a good feeling about him but rumours are that he’s signed a new contract with Porto. Rangnick - the bloke is a genius but would he want to be a coach again after being more of a DoF? Would it work with Brands? Just can’t see this one. Conte - genuine world class coach - we’re not getting him but I was asking who I wanted and I want him! If Simeone was an option, he’d have my vote! Favre - plays good football - decent CV - could be an interesting/realistic target. Nuno - always thought he did a very good job at Wolves - the Wolves fans absolutely worship him. Last season stood out but key injuries in Boly, Jimenez, Johnny, Neto, big sales in Jota and Doherty, trying something new e.g. moving away from the back 5 and a very short pre-season with them going far in the Europa last season (19/20). Seems another realistic choice and I like the idea of Mendes helping us out on a player or 2. Love Nuno’s passion too. Potter stands out too but I’m not sure he’s the character we need currently.

For the first time in 10 seasons they failed to win the league and only qualified for the Champions League on the final day - yes they won 2 domestic cups but with their poor show in the ECL, I’d guess it was seen as a poor season overall.

I think trying for someone like Hudson-Odoi on loan may be a smart move. It may prove to be a one season deal where we ‘develop’ him for Chelsea but it could mutually beneficial.

Class player who I’d love here but pretty sure he’s got a long-term injury and will miss the start of next season. Maybe revisit in Jan if he can prove his fitness?

Ole has been a manager for many years - even Lampard had some time as first choice at Derby. Dunc has had 4 games - it would be a massive ask; maybe we need to encourage he gets a chance elsewhere. I bet he has learned plenty working with Ancelotti but I think it would be a huge call to suddenly give him the job on a permanent basis. Would I support the decision? Of course I would - especially if it’s backed by Brands but I’d rather he at least hone his skills in a lower league/abroad and if he looks like he’s got what it takes, give him the opportunity in the future. Look what Gerrard has done - would he have got the Shite job with no experience? I doubt it. Ferguson needs to at least ‘have a go’ somewhere first.

I like what I’ve read about him but worry he’d prefer Brands’ job and don’t know how that would work with both of them. I’m open to Nuno with the Mendes links opening up a few doors but my 1st choice is Sérgio Conceição - really like what I’ve read about him and feel we need someone with his character after far too many laid back managers e.g Martinez, Silva, Ancelotti - even Koeman... I want someone who’s going to whip up our players/crowd and show a bit of bloody passion!

I guess Mendes will have a big say on that. Neto will be out way into next season regardless so don’t see him moving in the summer. Both class players though. Guedes and Leao stand out on that list... and obviously our very own James.
