It’s almost too late to sign a young right-back to ease in with Seamus as, as much as I like him, Seamus needs replacing now. It may not be a bad idea to get the experience of someone of Trippier’s quality and do what we should have done 3/4 years ago (with Seamus) by buying a young player next season as back-up to Trippier with the idea to eventually take his place.

I think Townsend put a few nice balls in and worked back well. He wasn’t great but I think he’ll be useful.

I agree - think we still need a ‘stand-out’ first choice winger but Gray (and Townsend) could prove to be really handy additions.

I just want Allan and Doucoure to have a run of games together - away from the start of last season they’ve never really had the chance to build any consistency together.

1-1 when he came on today - could have done better with a couple of chances but was lively and definitely contributed to the win.

Are these players not just isolating because we wouldn’t be able to sell them if they did catch COVID and couldn’t travel etc if they did? I’m guessing the 5 are James, Kean, Gomes, Kenny and another - the 5 who are likely to leave permanently or have been transfer listed.

I think (or hope blindly) Iwobi may change a few opinions this season.

By all accounts, he’s been working with our youth players - specifically Dobbin. Think it was mentioned in the commentary yesterday.

Linked with a move to Brighton. Could be a good move for all parties.

He’s a Villa fan - he may sign his first pro-contract at his boyhood club. Disappointing for us but not a lot we can do really - he won’t be the first young lad to do this and he certainly won’t be the last.

Official line is Gbamin and Gomes are precautionary and DCL is due to a slight knock. No word on Kean.
