Any incoming fee can be reported in full whereas outgoing fees can be reported over the contract e.g. we sign this lad for £20m over a 5 year contract with £4m annual instalments - even if we sold Digne on exactly the same deal, we could report +£16m on our FFP for this. That’s my understanding anyway.

Selling Digne at his current age/value is probably a must in all honesty. He’s one of our high earners too. Although £20m or whatever is the eventual price for this new lad, he’ll be on a fraction of Digne’s wage - we probably can’t afford not to sell Digne when all is considered. Same goes for Mina unfortunately - less so for Richarlison and Dom due to their age but we need to improve on and off the pitch to break this cycle.

Voted Pickford but Gordon - WOW - so proud of what he did tonight and what he’s done with consistency now over the season… I’m feeling really optimistic about him.

“If he’s smart…” He must be a smart businessman to get to where he has but it doesn’t seem he knows too much about how to run a football club effectively.

I accept Digne has been poor of late but when ‘on form’ he’s arguably our best player… this makes it pretty ridiculous why we’re not playing to his strengths. Personally, I think our set up is more focused on Coleman getting the ‘attacking freedom’ - Digne is much better at this (it helps that Digne can actually cross!) And why are Gray/Townsend on set-pieces?! Digne should be on these too!!! I’m just very confused and very pissed off!

Would you really trust Rafa with ‘full-control’ in Jan though? It could see Digne and Allan go if the fall-outs are true and who knows coming in?!

If he’s smart, he will sack Rafa and bring in a new DoF and give him full control - he can then justify that as a restructure/new direction rather than picking between Rafa/Brands.

Benefit of the doubt period over now - fuck off Rafa! I think the Richarlison sub nails it… even if we’d equalised today - get him gone!

No doubt that he’s a class player and on a free should be a no brainer for someone… BUT how much of a hit will he take on that £400k a week and can he stay fit and play every week? Too much of a risk for us unfortunately.

That wasn’t basic English - ridiculous statement! He’s probably been talking basic English for years but waited until he was at a level of fluency and understanding before going into an interview to go out to a worldwide audience of millions in his 2nd language. That was massive for the young man - fair play to him!

Good I personally don’t think Pickford is that hard to replace but I don’t really rate him. I think he’s massively over-rated/hyped (which will work in our favour on the fee) with him being England’s number 1. He’s an excellent shot stopper and decent (inconsistent) with his feet but, beyond that, he’s very average in my opinion. He’s shocking on crosses and pretty sure he’s statistically the worst keeper in the league in a one-on-one situation. I really like Meisler at Leeds and Sanchez at Brighton as commanding young keepers but think there are plenty out there.
