  1. I actually think Cahill has - I follow him on social media and he’s clearly been working through his badges and involved in football (in the Middle East I think). Seems a clever, straight forward bloke and very likeable. A character I’d welcome here.
  2. A huge reason why I’d prefer Rooney or even Ferguson for a longer period - they actually love and respect the club. We’ve had Allardyce, Koeman and Benitez who are that far up their own arses - we deserve much better. Okay Ancelotti dropped us at soon as Madrid came calling - can you blame him? - but at least he bought into this club and showed an understanding beyond his own self importance like the aforementioned three. Silva and Martinez ultimately failed but they showed more understanding of what we expect than the ‘local who knows the people of Merseyside’ Benitez. We need an identity now - let’s be honest, we’re not suddenly going to be challenging the champions league places next season so let’s back say a Rooney and build a young exciting, bold and brave identity and be ready to challenge as we move into Bramley Moore - another Allardyce, Koeman or Benitez could be a very, very expensive and costly error.
  3. Open with caution… only for the brave… https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/01/18/newcastle-united-sam-allardyce-duncan-ferguson-rafael-benitez/
  4. If it was the start of the summer or right at the end of the season and we were safe already, I’d vote Potter but as it is, I want Rooney. It may seem bonkers, as Potter is more experienced as a manager, but I think he’d need a longer time to translate his philosophy whereas Rooney would be able to come in and lift and motivate the group quicker - in my opinion of course.
  5. Don’t bother - it looks like Martinez and Henry Oh fuck!
  6. I disagree as manager but would back the DoF idea. Our weaknesses are defensively and on set-pieces - these are also Martinez’s.
  7. I fully agree - I want Rooney 100% I’d just wonder whether Dunc would work under him as he may feel he’s ‘as worthy’ to take the job.
  8. Great shout… although just watch out for the Alcaraz, McGeady and Niasse type signings.
  9. Would Dunc work under Rooney though - I completely agree and would love the pair but with Rooney’s lack of experience as a number 1 (not that Ferguson has any), would Dunc not think he deserves that shot? Maybe Ferguson accepts he needs to get some managerial experience elsewhere before he’s ‘ready’ or maybe he’d be content as Rooney’s number 2. I would get behind that idea though 100%.
  10. I hope something is in place where another club must pay us or Tapas Tits must pay back the severance pay if he takes another job in the next 18months or so. I fully expect Newcastle to ditch Howe very soon and I fully expect them to see Benitez as their ‘saviour’ - strange bunch!
  11. I want Rooney. I don’t care about the inexperience - I care about the passion - the pride - the desire. For many of the same reasons, I’d have Big Dunc but I just think profile and what they did in their playing career, Rooney can stand there and demand the best - he’s pretty much done it all and won the lot. I think he’d work with what’s here and bring the best out of them and invest/ put trust in younger lads. He won’t be hard or expensive to get from Derby (bring Knight too please) but put him with a solid assistant, with maybe a bit more experience, and I’d be delighted.
  12. As long as he can select any of his Belgium players at any time for EFC - if that’s not a rule, it’s a huge NO from me!
  13. Odds on him keeping Newcastle in the Premier League this season?
  14. It’s always a respectable hour somewhere in the world…
  15. Perfect replacement for Chris Wood at Burnley *if they can’t get Andy Carroll of course.
  16. He’s signed a new contract so hopefully that puts this one to bed.
  17. In Benitez’s defence - supposedly, El Ghazi is being brought in by Moshiri from his agent mates against Benitez’s will. Very, very worrying if so… I don’t want Benitez here but at least let him do his job. We really are a recipe for disaster if things like this are true and I really fear it could be about to spiral out of control.
  18. Well I don’t like watching it happen so please make it stop!
  19. Oh… underwhelmed but open to being proved wrong… Why though? We’ve got Gray, Gordon, Richarlison, Townsend and even Dobbin - I’d be pissed off if signing someone like this lessens Gordon’s involvement.
  20. I know we were linked… Kulusevski not Chiesa before someone says!!!
  21. He hasn’t been rubbish for 18months - let’s put that to bed. He does have poor moments; often against direct wingers - I remember Traore giving him a torrid time a Goodison but he’s still one of our best players… …but the numbers in the deal make sense and we’re bringing the age of the squad down with the latest 2 signings. Let Villa go for quick fix with Digne, Coutinho and Ings signings - we’ve tried that and failed - best of luck to them but we need a new strategy with savvy purchases of young talent and development from within - much more sustainable long-term.
