  1. I know - Alan Nixon has been a football journo for over 30 years - decent claim
  2. There’s been rumours that he’s been offered to Roma.
  3. I’m not subscribed but the headline seems very positive…
  4. He’s turned into prime Ronaldo (the real one!) since we’ve been linked! Likewise, Traore scored a worldie tonight too!
  5. I think he’s a decent player and actually his qualities (and limitations) are very similar to Gordon’s BUT it’d be millions spent on a player who will be 29 by the end of the season - it’s not old and arguably peak years but we’ve made this mistake too many times in recent years. If he was in a free, that’s different. If Newcastle are giving him us on a low nominal fee then maybe but I seriously doubt that for a 1st team regular.
  6. Sadly, our interest will probably just speed up the deal for Newcastle.
  7. It’s a massive gamble on Chelsea’s behalf - which they can afford. It’d be an even bigger gamble on our behalf to turn down such a big fee - which we can’t afford to do. If Thelwell or whoever feel they’ve got the highest fee possible then it’s time to take it a move on. If Broja is the number 1 striking target, even on-loan, we need to get that over the line first. I do actually feel we’ve negotiated well on this deal up to now - £35m to Spurs was the starting so almost double at £60m - way above what an attacker with 4 goals in 50 odd games is worth on current ability.
  8. Reading on, that’s £50m guaranteed and £10m add-ons.
  9. Sky reporting £60m including add-ons from Chelsea and rumours that Spurs will rival that.
  10. I disagree - it’s United’s restart. If he had kicked the ball into the stand or something then I’d agree - he knew what he was doing 100% but if anything, the Liverpool players wasted the time.
  11. I saw Wood coming on for Newcastle earlier and it dawned on me that we’d probably be better off now if we’d signed him in 2017 when we were linked… he probably wouldn’t have been our main striker all the time but at least he’d have been a ‘reliable’ option. After this realisation I made myself a refreshing bleach cocktail and feel much better again now.
  12. Reminds me of Coady - can’t think why… Anyway, I think he’ll fill the gap ok if Gordon leaves.
  13. They brought Kudus on in the 73rd min in a 0-1 win.
  14. He’s on the bench (with Davy Klaassen) for Ajax today. Antony isn’t with the move to Man U seemingly close.
  15. If Man U are about to pay 100m euros for Antony then £50m is nowhere near enough for our Anthony. Should the Man U deal go through, it SHOULD give us a strong negotiating position.
  16. We’d have won today with someone like Che Adams up top! I can’t get my head round how much we’ve neglected such a key position… look at Palace - they’ve just let Benteke go (wouldn’t want him but probably better than our only fit striker) and still have Eduard and Mateta on the bench behind Zaha, with Plange (young lad from Derby) a decent option too. We have DCL and Rondon - nothing else. We need to sign 1 player who can really challenge DCL for the spot e.g Broja/Watkins (doubt it) and one average but reliable Adams/ Maupay type who will be able to change games from the bench and fill in without having to compensate elsewhere over the course of the season. Che Adams came off the bench today for Southampton and scored 2; meanwhile we threw Dwight McNeil up front as we had no other options.
  17. I saw somewhere (can’t remember where) that Milwall want him on-loan.
