  1. He's had good Everton teams playing good football in the past, it's only now we've not been in europe for a couple of seasons that people are moaning about it. Sadly football fans have short memories (me included at times!) Also on Jela only costing £5m - incredible signing like baines, jags, cahill, pienaar, howard, neville, lescott, arteta, maybe gibson etc... give Moyes £10m a season and he'll buy good players, make them better and add value - there's enough evidence to suggest this!
  2. I think he would have us at least challenging 4th every season with that kind of money - he wouldn't neccessarily be buying ego's, assuming you're basing this on Drenthe, VDM and Yak? I don't neccessarily think we'd play our current style if moyes had the players he craved, he's had to make do at times but you can see how we played at the end of last season when we had options - there wasn't too much negativitiy there! 12 goals in 3 games was it? That's even better than Wigan, Norwich and Swansea!
  3. Rangers will know their future by 4th July (whether they're in the SPL or not) - there's 8 out of 12 votes between them in or out (well 7 as I think Rangers will vote yes!) What I want to ask, if anyone knows, is what happens to their players? I've read they could walk free from contracts at some point - is this true? Surely some will be sold regardless? We've been linked to Naismith and Heggarty but there are one or two others who are decent - McGregor, Edu, Davis - maybe not for us but all would be premiership level players. Maybe Nikica could give us a run down on this?
  4. I'm not interested in other clubs but it is relevant! The 6 clubs ahead of us have a lot more in terms of resources as do many below. He's continued to do a good job through a time where players have had to be sold to help pay back the banks. I bet many clubs below us wish they had kept managers who did well for them! You've obviously read Moyes is getting a pay rise or your sourced up on this?! Who knows - I don't and I doubt you do either. Give Moyes a budget and allow him to buy without the restraints of selling key players and he'll deliver - he's done it in the past and he'll do it again!
  5. Which clubs have passed us (without big money) in the last 10years? Which clubs have we passed in that same time? It's not Moyes - it's lack of investment that is holding us back!
  6. On this subject, I think Charlton fans were in a similar position a few years back with Curbishley... they wanted someone to take them on from being a mid-table premiership side! Less than a decade on and they've just been promoted from the 3rd tier of English football! I am so glad the people calling for Moyes out are the minority and are not being heard at Goodison Park.
  7. Moyes is just a good honest man, I've got so much respect for the way he conducts himself and for the loyalty he's shown to us. Should a club ask and he wish to talk to them then it wouldn't change my opinion - yes he's not won a thing but in my lifetime he's been one of the most significant figures, if not the most significant.
  8. He was our best player last season up until his injury - form that was recognised by England scouts hence the 2 caps and he looked very good in both. It winds me up how people are so quick to build up then knock down youths - Barkley is the best thing since sliced bread now but I hate to think if he has a poor patch or struggles with injuries. Give them a chance, Rodwell obviously has something and hopefully he'll come through this reoccurring injury and blossom at us - Barkley needs time too.
  9. http://m.mirror.co.uk/article?id=885434/ It was always coming wasn't it? If only (please, pretty please!)
  10. I'd guess either the media are linking us and we have no interest or we're offering him a McFadden 'you're here just in case' type deal, while Stoke are offering him the no.9 crouch and Owen reunion strikeforce!
  11. I've heard German legend Stefan Kuntz may be part of Dick's plans.
  12. Just looked on the site you probably got those figures off and they're clearly wrong... 'signed' and 'undisclosed' figures are ignored! Martinez probably does have a lower net spend but I'd imagine that's a sign of the times as spending has been lower (minus a few exceptions) in the last couple of seasons. This site... http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transfers/wigan-athletic-transfers.html
  13. I really like Jelavic and Mandzukic as a partnership - seems the latter is out of favour at his club in Germany.
  14. Martinez performs well over a 1/3 of the season, Moyes 1/2... We've played as well and probably better than them since Jan and let's be honest it's not as if Wigan haven't spent a bit over the years as have we. The problem is, the grass is always greener to some. It's okay for Martinez to under perform for 2/3 of the season but for Moyes to finish 7th after a slow start is not okay? Rodgers took Swansea up whatever foundations have been laid. Rodgers also kept them up and outperformed Wigan. Wigan fact... Paul Jewell and Steve Bruce both got higher prem finishes from Wigan than Martinez. If he was called Robert Martin then we wouldn't even be entertaining the idea!
  15. I heard that too off my hairdresser's, dad's, best mate's, sister's, cousin!
  16. Sure they suspended betting on Moyes to Villa pre-Houllier/MacDonald.
  17. Would be my first choice if Moyes did go.
  18. I thought Villas Boas had gone to Italy - obviously not... 8-1 looks decent odds to me! (for spurs of course!)
  19. Will's..."This is how one will deal with Afghanistan when one is King!" Kate..."Ohhh, I love it when you play King... my wee-wee's been stricken by rigamortis!"
