I can’t recall us bringing players back after they’ve done well at the loan club but it’s happened a lot where players aren’t getting enough game time. I think this makes a lot of sense - he’s essentially taking Rondon’s bench slot and is much further on than Cannon having scored in League 1, Scotland and now the Championship- better than 1 in 3 in all and only 21 (22 next week) - definitely worth a look and if he can’t show anything, I’d guess there’ll be a few clubs in the Championship willing to pay a decent(ish) price.

Godfrey probably did the most important acts of the game by getting inside Haaland’s head - without this, I don’t think we get the point… …but, Gueye was excellent in a footballing sense so pips Godfrey and Gray (for obvious reasons) to MOTM.

I think Patterson was to blame for the 1st goal too… I really like him as a player but think he’s very naive in some aspects of his play. Great potential but a lot to work on.

I’d say players look ‘shackled’ bar Iwobi. Onana is the most obvious example - I was so excited after his cameo at Villa when he’d just signed - rough diamond but going on marauding runs and creating opportunities as a result - he’s been a crab the last few games either side of the break. Gordon and McNeil too - they almost look over coached. I know we’re shit but let Onana/Gordon have the odd run - let McNeil shoot on sight - it’s all too painfully predictable and boring and easy to defend!

Mina is a liability fitness wise but, on the rare occasions he’s on the pitch, he’s consistently one of our best. Did a job on Costa - both seemed to enjoy the battle. Gana was the only other worth a mention in my opinion - I agree, Onana should have come off ahead of him and we’d probably have one point extra today.

I hope so - he looks like someone who is not afraid to run at the opposition, albeit at a lower level, this is what we seriously lack. I hope it’s not coached out of him here as Gray and Gordon both have this quality but haven’t seemed to back themselves of late - maybe it’s confidence, maybe it’s tactical - whatever it is, it makes us so easy to defend against and completely lacklustre in attack.

Sancho on-loan is a rumour I keep seeing/hearing and don’t expect to go away for a while.
