  1. I was going to add that but £20m is kind of the figure I think Moyes could do a brilliant job with annually.
  2. I agree that money doesn't buy the league as such but as said it clearly helps! I don't want Abramovich or Sheikh money, I want £20m each summer a la Liverpool, spurs even clubs like Sunderland and I think Moyes would spend it well, without having to sell and we'd be really competitive.
  3. I'm not certain but the only season we finished near Arsenal was 95-96 under Royle (possibly still my favourite season watching us) and they pipped us to Europe on the last day - otherwise we were in relegation scraps every other year as they pretty much went fr strength to strength from then on. To be fair we've not been far off player for player (in some areas) in recent years but Arsenal have been far superior in general - we've not had players who can match up with RVP, Cesc, Nasari and early eg's Overmars, Henry, Viera, Pettit, etc! The main factor is money - they can pay players £100k per week, we can't hence they have one or 2 world stage players while we have very good players. This season is the one where I think our squads area the closest they have been but Arseanl still edge it with individuals for me.
  4. Fact is that Arsenal have had a much better squad than us for a number of years (only this year are our squads almost comparable) and pay much higher wages as they are far wealthier too (and have a far greater fan base etc...)
  5. @ShaneDuffy34: @lukegallagher98: @ShaneDuffy34 http://t.co/A3JwVzquT0.. Really shane? No not true. I love it here
  6. We can all dream of this... http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/fourfourtwoview/archive/2013/03/28/premier-league-prediction-2012-13.aspx Written by an Evertonian?
  7. Ditto! Vic has really proved his worth this season but it shouldn't be too much of a surprise as he looked really good when back to fitness last season.
  8. I don't think anyone is suggesting he's shite. Many are suggesting Moyes is though... or so it seems!
  9. I don't need to look at wiki - Coyle got Bolton to play good football - they got relegated. Big Sam had them playing poor football in the prem for years! Who do Bolton fans miss now? Lambert brought Norwich back to the prem with back to back promotions, like Adkins did with Southampton. I know Lambert is a Champs League winner and to be honest I think he's good tactically but your argument is very biased against Moyes and I know there is no changing that with your other posts.
  10. I get that people rate Laudrup but every possible positive is highlighted there and negatives have been glossed over. Yes he has won titles in Denmark (a league on par with the SPL at best) and he has beaten Bradford City in the League Cup Final (okay beat Chelsea en route). I'll be honest, I like the thought of Laudrup (although we have no chance of getting him) but if he's getting credit for being a runner up in cup finals and getting manager of the year then shouldn't we be comparing this to Moyes' 3 managers of the year and champs league qualification? - all without financial backing ala Martinez. I get why people want Moyes out but let's judge managers without bias. If Moyes wasn't our manager and we were out lookers, looking in then would we want him as our manager? Probably! Ask many Chelsea, Spurs, United, Arsenal and Citeh fans who they'd have replace their manager - I bet a lot would say Moyes.
  11. It's the same people calling for Laudrup who wanted Coyle, Holloway, Rodgers, Lambert, *insert flavour of the month here*. Laudrup would actually excite me as he's picked up some really good players for Swansea but he's by no means proved himself as a manager - if Swansea were to go down next year (I don't think they will at all) then is Laudrup suddenly a bad manager? Was he ever a good manager? Some people on here were screaming for Moyes out and Coyle in - I don't think anyone would own up to this now!!! Martinez I kind of get as he gets his teams playing a decent brand of football (Swansea now Wigan) and he's 'proved' himself on a low budget at an unfashionable team but I'm not for just shouting for anyone who's maybe had a bit of luck or a rich vein of form. Moyes has been excellent for our club and should he go we can't afford to just plump for a flavour of the month type manager - we need the man who will build us as Moyes has and hopefully take us to the next level.
  12. Not a bizarre signing at all - he was a cracking player and certainly no secret. Comparisons to Del Pierro and Raul were made on he played a similar role and was the stand out player for Belgium although the competition was the M'Penza's etc... not the finest Belgian team!!!
  13. O'Neill was excellent at Leicester and did a 'good' job at Celtic (success in Scotland must be taken with a pinch of salt - unless you do what SAF did!) - by this time he's considered a top manager and to be honest I was gutted when villa got him and to be fair he did well at villa if you look at results etc. It's when you look closer at his time at villa when it shows up what a mess he made spunking millions on average players and offering wages for players like Habid Beye (£60k a week?!) At Sunderland he just looks poor - he's got some good players but he's not got them playing so I do expect him to be out of the door come the summer but no way is Moyes even considering that job!
  14. PREVIOUS WINNERS Gauteng 2009 Boca Juniors (ARG) Gauteng 2010 Shandong Luneng (CHI) Belo Horizonte 2010Clube Athletic Miniero (BRA) Gauteng 2011 Clube Athletic Miniero (BRA) Belo Horizonte 2011 Clube Athletic Miniero (BRA) Gauteng 2012 Clube Athletic Miniero (BRA) Looks like the Brazilians are the ones to beat!
  15. Have you been writing that since January?
  16. Yep he was top notch and I'd imagine a hero to any Belgians. Villa were going to be his last pay packet and to be fair he still had it although he went there in his twilight years. Think he only played a handful of games before his collision with Richard Wright (I'm sure it was - when he was at Ipswich?). Top player - I would imagine he was to Belgian football what Raul was to Spain and Del Pierro was to Italy.
  17. Silly season has come early... http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/386564/Sunderland-eye-David-Moyes?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+daily-express-sport-news+%28Daily+Express+%3A%3A+Sport+Feed%29
  18. Here's my team of favourite players from over my viewing years... Southall Cafu Roberto Carlos Baresi Adams (yep Tony Adams!!!!) Guillit Valderamma Le Tissier Beagrie Ferguson R.Baggio
  19. On this day in 2012 Heather died in Eastenders.
  20. Just had signed Big Dunc FA Cup Final shirt from my wife as a 'not going to Wembley' compensation present!!! Anyone else got any bits they're proud of? I got my dad the 'Everton Encyclopaedia' for Christmas - 1 of 100 legends signed copy - an incredible book! Just pre-ordered 'My First Everton Book' for my niece to make sure she gets brain-washed early! On the subject of merchandise - I went into the Everton 1 club shop (outside ground) a few weeks ago and it was very bare of any merchandise, obviously we're having a new kit but it seemed almost empty!
  21. Coleman was a machine. My MOTM. Anichebe put everything into today. Mucha made some brilliant blocks. Osman/Felli/Gibson worked well together. Distin/Heitinga worked well together. Baines and Pienaar were obviously their focus which allowed Coleman and Mirrallas a lot of space with both looking threatening! Moyes picked the right team for the occasion. An all round good day made even better if scores stay as they are (maybe even a stoke and Swansea double bonus!)
