Some will make judgement having not watched a player play, more common with players from abroad. Some will make judgement on a player on the basis that he's good on a computer game. Many are judging McCarthy on the basis that they've actually watched him play on a number of occasions.

I'm making judgement having watched him play. Excellent player and just what we need.

I think many are making judgement on what they've seen of him, regardless of anything else. I along with many others think he will be an excellent signing and exactly what we need.

Fer was a Moyes target, Moyes/Kenwright/Everton may have known as early as Jan about what we all know with ManU as SAF said he made his decision over the festive season. Maybe when push came to shove Kenwright wasn't prepared to back Moyes to sign a player that the next manager may not want. Speculative I know!

I personally watch any game involving an English team be it premiership, lower league or in Europe (unless of course I'm at the game), so see plenty of Wigan live and of course the highlights (which don't always tell the whole story). I'll watch the odd la liga and scots prem game too and the bundesliga highlight show when I catch it! In addition sky sports news will often run on a loop in my house - hands up I'm an addict! Thankfully my wife likes football and even watches Sir Jeff on soccer Saturday when I'm at Goodison! In conclusion, I've been very impressed with McCarthy for a fair while.

I'm not going to hype him up to that extent but from watching him, even before we were linked, I've thought he'd be an excellent signing for us. The fact that he's comfortable in Martinez's systems just adds to that further. As haf said £10m plus add-ons would be money well spent in my opinion. Felli/Gibbo/Barry/McCarthy would be enough cover in the deeper cm role with Barkley/Osman further up. I'd be very optimistic if this was the case - should Felli and or Baines go then we've got some serious work in the market to do!!!
