  1. No, perfect for someone who can hold the ball up, bring others in to play, can run at defenders... correct he's not the most prolific but he's young, still learning and hardly been given a chance as the main striker - he's always done well for England and generally looked very good at Man U. Doubt this will hold any substance anyway unless Moyes wants rid - he's a massive Man U fan so couldn't see him pushing for a move unless he feels he needs a move for more game time.
  2. Perfect fit in our system in my opinion. Scores when he plays as a striker but rarely given that chance at Man U. I'd actually say he's better with the ball at his feet than Lukaku.
  3. Newcastle 1 - 3 Everton Lukaku
  4. It's getting better episode by episode - I love it!
  5. I agree that 4th is still a possibility but only if and it's a huge IF we can win our next 3 on the bounce. If we do I believe we'll be within touching distance of at least Arsenal... if we drop even a point in the next 3 I believe 5th is our limit this season. Looking at our away form the chances of back to back wins at Newcastle and Fulham are very slim but we should be able to go to both and win, whether we do is a whole different matter!
  6. While we're on Elstone has anyone else seen the rumour that he sacked Myers for announcing the palace cancelation too early costing us £90k in doing so.
  7. He was playing rb (very well by all accounts) at Wigan but prior to that he had been playing as a cb in the u21s. I also remember him playing in centre mid for 18s or 21s. He sounds a little like Micah Richards in his early days with his pace and power and the versatility - Richards should have been (and maybe still can be) a top class player.
  8. Having read the tweets I'm disappointed that he's done it in this way... insightful, yes, but it lacks class. I don't see what he's looking to achieve by the comments as they're totally 'unprovoked'. I'd understand a little more if they were comments in response to a question in an interview but just comments put out on twitter - disappointed personally.
  9. I read somewhere that he's going/gone to Wigan on loan to get some gametime.
  10. Ooopppsss... I saw the last post on the last page thinking that was the current topic!
  11. He's not been guaranteed at start at rb for Southampton this season... Chambers has kept him on the bench on a few occasions.
  12. Top 6 and FA cup winner or runner-up get Europe then.
  13. To be totally honest if we threw every penny in transfer funds we have at strikers and filled the rest of the squad with free transfers and loans then I'd be happy. If getting say Lescott, Colback, Barry and Ince in on frees (obviously there are other fees involved) meant we had a sizeable pot to buy at least 2 strikers then I'd be delighted.
  14. He could have been/ could still be a brilliant player... probably not in the prem though. La Liga would probably suit him best or a move to a champs league French side.
  15. Exactly - players who play weekly at club level. I actually think Jones will develop into an excellent CB but 1. He doesn't play enough at club level to warrant selection and 2. When he does play it's very rarely at CB!
  16. Sickens me to say but I really like the look of Flanaghan at rb. On current ability John Stones isn't far away from being an England squad regular - I expect he'll be in and around the squad for Euro qualifying/tournament in 2016. CB is a big problem - I'm okay with Jags and Cahill but beyond them... Are Jones and Smalling really better than the likes of Davies, Lescott, Shawcross, Brown, Caulker and Dawson? Terry is an idiot but quality wise he would improve us on the pitch (maybe not behind the scenes though!)
  17. We won't see the full Martinez effect until probably this time next season when he's got more of 'his' players. The only comparison that can be made really is tactically and although it's clear that the Martinez style is easier on the eye, time will tell whether it's more effective long-term with productivity - I believe it will prove to be. Hate to say it but look across the park at that red lot... Rodgers had a first season where they were asking what's changed but look at them now (still time for them to self-destruct - fingers crossed!!!)
  18. I saw enough today and have done previously to see he'll be a good squad player should we get him. He was left mid today - think he'll primarily be cm for us, add Barry in the summer then I'd be happy with McCarthy, Barry, Gibson and Colback as the base for the 2 deep midfield roles. We need depth all over the squad as lack of quality is why we've died off since a busy Christmas period. Obviously strikers will be our main priority in the summer!
  19. I'd have him at the right price - him and McCarthy could form a solid partnership for many years.
  20. Pullis/Palace have thanked us for how we looked after them after the recent cancelation. http://www.nsno.co.uk/everton-news/2014/02/pulis-thanks-everton/
