There must be over 1000 professional players registered at English clubs at any one time. So we're talking 1000s of pros since Thornton's time. I doubt, although I may be wrong, Sean Thornton is the one example which encompasses all of these professionals.

It's not a basis for comparison. These are athletes at the top of their game, getting daily input physically, technically, mentally... I think he'll get a CB in before the season kicks off as a necessity but the no.10 may be a late move. I think we'll play the long game with Lennon in the hope that we can get him at a fair price - if he doesn't get other interesting offers I can see us signing him after we've played them in August. Decent start but a lot more to be done - with a few twists along the way.
