  1. Agree but he ended up with 2 assists. His direct involvement in our goals is on the up which is very encouraging. At times he just wants too long on the ball and attacks break down as a result. Despite this he's had a really encouraging start to the season.
  2. I would say most like him and appreciate what he does for us but sometimes how Martinez uses him it really doesn't help the team. I was one who would have taken £8m on the basis that players who fit the system better were signed - when we play like we did today it looks like the system is working perfectly though. He's clearly a big character in the dressing room and seems to have a really good relationship with Stones off the pitch. Good on him today, I'm fooking delighted!!!
  3. Naismith for the perfect hat-trick. Would have given it to Barry before Naismith's 3rd though, him and McCarthy were pretty much perfect against world class opposition.
  4. I don't condone the wages but it's entertainment - film stars get millions per film, they have done for years. Football's no different really, it's a form of entertainment enjoyed by billions worldwide. The players are just getting their piece of the pie. Clubs should be lowering ticket prices now as the big money comes from TV. Hopefully Swansea's set away ticket price (£25 I think) will set a precedent for other clubs to follow.
  5. He's just been sent off for throwing his chewing gum at an opponent who did a bad challenge on him!
  6. Oh well... www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/463133/Everton-bid-Arsenal-Liverpool-target-Denis-Cheryshev-blocked-Real-Madrid
  7. Signing Lennon will mean Geri/Mirallas get more freedom. I'm disappointed that we haven't got the playmaker in but in Lennon we have someone who fits and will bring the best out of others. Reading a lot of moans about the lack of width/ why sign another winger when we haven't been playing them anyway?! Well Geri/Mirallas have been lacking fitness after picking up injuries over preseason - they'll play when fully fit. We're 4 (5 including the cup) games in, our starting XI may look very different once everyone's settled and fully fit. Decent transfer window but lacking the 'marquee' £15-20m playmaker. In Cleverley, Deulofeu and Lennon we have 3 players who have improved us. The others are unknown to most so we'll see. Don't underestimate keeping Stones... losing him could have been very damaging - it doesn't excuse not getting the much needed playmaker in but still some of the 'FUME' is unwarranted.
  8. Norwich interested in Naismith but EFC demanding a big fee - £7m + and I'd sell providing he's replaced in addition to Lennon/number 10 targets. Also seen a few McGeady going elsewhere tweets - fingers crossed!!!

  10. Correct but the players available will either be surplus or already replaced.
  11. I can see us going for Denis Cheryshev from Real once all talk of Yarmolenko disappears.
  12. Doesn't the European window shut at midnight tomorrow? If true, we'll have a clearer picture come Tuesday. Edit: in saying this I'm referring to teams from Germany/Spain/Italy not being able to bid for him on Tuesday. That leaves Man U to swoop in at the last minute!
  13. If it's serious, actually regardless of this, I can see a deal for Lennon going through. Lennon/Cleverly give us that protection and balance with their working back on one flank giving the opposite winger e.g. Mirallas/Deulofeu more freedom.
  14. Roberto's 20/1 for the next manager to leave. Anyone who thinks Stones will be sold after tonight's comments might be wise to put a few quid with those odds.
  15. It needs to be really. It may actually give us enough protection to play Gerry and Mirallas. Special mention for Cleverley tonight, filled in well at right back - he's never a right back but did the job required for us.
  16. Barkley, just ahead of Deulofeu. Oviedo may be our only fit recognised left back but he can't play against Spurs - they'll kill him!
