  1. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/sport/football/808847/Everton-Transfer-News-Cuco-Martina-Southampton-Talks-Negotiations/amp If it stops Holgate playing right back and provides competition for Kenny in Coleman's absence then it makes sense. I'd love Trippier (which won't happen as it now seems he's got a future at Spurs) but signing a player like him would be as first choice - it's clear Coleman is still first choice but obviously not available for the foreseeable future. A signing like this may actually give Kenny more chances but still offer us experienced competition naturally in that position from a player Koeman knows well.
  2. You'd hope that our scouts aren't basing their opinion solely on tonight!!! Sanchez does look excellent. Klassen has shown flashes - seems to work back and has had some good link ups etc. Dolberg just didn't get into the game. I've said it before but I really like Bertrand Traore (on-loan from Chelsea) - I'd love him at us. De Ligt looks incredible for a 17 year old and the keeper looks a prospect too. Been impressed with Ajax but United's big game experience is shining through.
  3. I don't think O'Shea would offer more than Jags but you clearly do... regardless of this, John O'Shea is not the type of player we need to sign. Hal Robson-Kanu probably would have offered more this season than Kone - it doesn't mean that we should go out and sign him. Are you PeteO'Shea? I did wonder what the O stood for... Anyway this is a Gana thread. He's had an excellent first, there's room for improvement but I think he'll be a really important part of our progression. He seems really popular with the other players too.
  4. O'Shea was a very good, solid player for Man U - another one of them who Sir Alex kept and played when many wrote him off like Fletcher, Brown, Evans, Gibson, etc. You don't need to tell me that but what you don't seem to understand is that time has taken its toll on him and to sign him now is just laughable - he's been way past his best for at least 3 seasons. If you were suggesting Jonny Evans then you may have a point but there is nothing O'Shea can offer Everton now.
  5. That's the worrying thing - what are you watching? How you think Fletcher, O'Shea, Navas and Sagna can help us progress (maybe a few years ago) then won't have players like Kane and Gueye as good players... I don't understand. Jags has been excellent for us - I don't think anyone would claim he's been a world beater but he's consistently been one of our most important players for the past decade. I don't read newspapers bar the articles linked to Everton through Newsnow - I just watch a hell of a lot of football and am fascinated by how you must judge a player. Each to their own anyway. I'm sure newspapers will say Ronaldo and Messi are pretty good so I'll agree with that too.
  6. Kante plays beside Matic, Gueye plays beside Schneiderlin. Kante and Gueye are the ball winning midfielders. Matic and Schneiderlin are the deeper sitting playmakers. Surely it's better to tackle the opposition higher up the field? Whatever you want to call it, there's certainly a place for a Kante/Gueye type player in the modern game. I find your dislike for Gueye, Jagielka and, most baffling, Harry Kane very odd when you seem to rate players like O'Shea, Fletcher and Jesus Navas.
  7. Well the player deemed most important in the league is 2nd to him and he's a central midfielder so I beg to differ, it's a very important attribute.
  8. Hold on, his contract runs until July 1st!
  9. I feel sorry for the poor sod who had to count them all!
  10. What an achievement (and the call-up too)... get him signed!!!
  11. Coming off now to a standing ovation. He takes a cracking corner - even had a decent shot directly from a corner which Navas needed to deal with. I really like the look of Jonny for Malaga too.
  12. I know, a lot of teams do. Pretty sure their wage bill is more than twice ours. Barkley can get paid a lot more elsewhere - I think he'll sign here though personally.
  13. I think it boils down to money. It's rumoured that we've offered £100k per week... hasn't Lovern just signed £140k per week deal? Zaha negotiating a £110k per week deal? He could get more else where no doubt. Ball seems firmly in Barkley's court - I think he/his agent are just trying to get the best deal but maybe their bluff has been called with Koeman's deadline.
  14. Playing now vs Real on Sky Sports1. He's been class so far - just hit a quality free kick. Real are 1 up with Barca losing.
  15. Yep, he's got a massive job on his hands but has made a really good start.
  16. I know, big nasty Ronald has upset a few! I think he's been phenomenal.
  17. The target was Europa - we achieved it. With the squad Koeman inherited, I think he's done a very good job. He's only tweaked it up to now - he knows it still needs a massive overhaul and that has been going on with the players he's already got rid of with many to follow.
  18. I'm sure his team mates would have wanted him to take it to keep his chances of winning the Golden Boot alive.
  19. Our defence has improved on the past 2 seasons. Koeman's been a factor, Gueye's been a factor, Williams has been a factor. We need strengthening in defence but Williams still has a very important role to play (not only on the pitch) if we want to continue to improve.
  20. This season has been a season of big progress. Being back in Europe is the headline but Koeman has done so much more; turning our worst home season into our best in the Premier League era, bringing through a number of young prospects, clearing out a large number of players not deemed good enough, bringing in quality like Gana and Schneiderlin. There's much, much more to do with recruitment and our away form is simply not good enough but with the ambition of Moshiri, Koeman, Walsh, etc. we are 100% moving in the right direction.
  21. Football is business. Better business decisions usually mean better results on the pitch and better results off the pitch usually means better business. The money is ridiculous but at the same time no club is going to opt out of it. I accept that this is what modern football is - I love the Premier League and Sky's coverage etc. I have a friend who doesn't - supported United his whole life following them around the world but the minute the Glazers took over he stopped. He was one of a group of fans that set up FC United, who he now (and has so since they were formed) follows them week in and week out. His proudest moment in football wasn't the 2-1 European Cup in the last minute or any of Sir Alex's trophies; it was the opening of Broadhurst Park.
  22. Well done but I'm not talking about you. I've experienced Everton fans supporting the opposition and I expect that's what will have happened at the Emirates. Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if we go on to win now with Arsenal not having anything to play for and the home fans making it very hostile towards their own team.
  23. Should be in a perfect world. It'd be very naive to think that some players/fans aren't going to be affected (switch off) by playing in a match that ultimately means nothing for us.
