  1. They'll announce it at the opening of the New York Stock Exchange tomorrow - it'll be worth more to them.
  2. Slumdog Billionaire - like the original but higher stakes. Honey, I Shrunk the Lids - tupperware horror flick. Wild Wild Vest - biography on the life and loves of Rab C Nesbitt. White Men Cunt Jump - no synopsis needed.
  3. Agree 100% Romey - great post! The deal is a good deal for all parties IMO. We're getting a potentially world record fee for a player who we've seen, despite his many qualities, there are many limitations too, Lukaku's getting his BIG move which he's craved and Man Utd are getting an incredible goal scorer - they've often struggled against the teams which Rom scores for fun against. I would have loved to have kept him but feel we will be much stronger as a result of our proactivity in this window so far.

  5. It's the overhaul of the squad which has impressed me so much... we've got rid of so much deadwood - mostly for decent prices too. We've been moving in a positive direction from day one with Ron... he's got an ambitious vision of where he sees us and it seems he's staying true to this.
  6. Is there enough interest to warrant a separate Everton Ladies section? Just an idea...
  7. Didn't we employ a Scandinavian scout just last week? I don't like what Chelsea are doing with almost 50 out on-loan but the money they've made from players like Lukaku (although that could go full-circle), Ake, Atsu, Traore and others shows what a low risk model this is. The bonus at Everton is that these players are likely to be actually given a chance as we've proved on endless occasions.
  8. Unfortunately, people still get sucked in by what's reported in the media. A deal is only official when it's announced by the club. Anything else is just media speculation. Obviously, that's all we have when a transfer is dragged out like this one... the club will know what's going on and I'm sure they would have walked away if it was as negative as some on here make out. I believe this deal will go through on Monday along with Keane and Martina. Keane and Martina will join the squad for pre-season training while Sandro will meet his new teammates before going off on a 2 week holiday.
  9. I think Williams' leadership skills will be a vital part of our defence next season. Keane right cb and Williams left cb will be solid.
  10. I'm all for buying 1st teamers in priority positions when needed but this is different - Martina will be no more than a stop gap. His signing is likely to give Kenny more opportunities and not cause a needless situation when Coleman returns from injury. Why spend silly sums of money on a player who in reality will only have a limited career here? I'd personally rather use the £20m+ it would cost for a right back of Coleman's quality to spend on another goal scorer or centre back - positions we are lacking.
  11. I think it's Inter who are in financial troubles.
  12. They are ridiculously rich... look how much they've spent already this summer!!!
  13. Anyone in their right mind would but he'd cost £20m plus when we've got one of the best right backs in the country in Coleman already, who'll be back in the new year and a player who has earned a shot at a first team spot after a great season in the u23s and his World Cup performances in Kenny... Martina would be very much a squad player. Soares would be a key 1st team signing in a position which we're quite well stocked in.
  14. I'm okay with this as experienced back-up to Kenny rather than Holgate playing out of position at right-back.
  15. He does need to improve a lot defensively but looks good going forward.
  16. Not just me who thinks this then... https://twitter.com/dominicking_dm/status/879813479955402752

  18. Although I don't think he's good enough yet, Chilwell doesn't half look like a young Leighton Baines - even how he runs and shapes himself when on the ball. He could be a good one for Baines to mentor into the role.
  19. Disagree - he's been excellent for West Brom - don't want him but he's far from shite.
