  1. Kenny wasn't in the u23 squad yesterday so hopefully he'll get a start tomorrow night.
  2. To Sally Cinamon (Stone Roses) Until Farhad I was never happy, I needed so much more. Rooney, Sandro and Davvy Klaassen, On a European tour, Join my cheers, Allay my fears... Sent to me from heaven, Gylfi Sigurdsson you're my world!
  3. Exactly, he's still learning his trade and that's why I think he'll be used more in wide positions this season. I'm not saying he should be, I'm saying I expect he will be because he's not the prolific central striker we need at the moment; the player I hope he will go on to be.
  4. Gana, Schneiderlin, McCarthy, Davies, Klaassen, Besic. I also suspect someone like Baningime may be around the squad at some point this season. Now I'm a big fan of Barry but I think we've got adequate cover there. I suspect the move was as much about Koeman's respect for Barry as much as anything else. I don't actually think we need further cover in the deeper midfield role. Fletcher is an excellent signing for Stoke - I don't think he would have added anything here on the pitch.
  5. Good problems to have over a long season. We need options, we need flexibility, we need to keep players motivated with top quality players ready to take their place the moment their performance drops.
  6. Seen a few saying £40m plus add-ons rather than the £45m Sky are reporting.
  7. I read that as deals on the back of this e.g Chadli, Bony and maybe Allen to Swansea... I prefer your interpretation though!
  8. The one that stood out was when he broke through one on one after nicking it off Zouma... I just didn't get the feeling it was going to end up in the back of the net as it was happening. Obviously, that's only one example but I was thinking it last season and watching the u20 tournament in the summer. Don't get me wrong, I really like him, but I don't see him as a prolific goal scorer YET.
  9. We're so clearly sell to buy this summer... the minute the Barry deal was confirmed we finally agree a fee for Gylfi!!!
  10. I wonder if they could close it between domestic clubs before season kick off but remain open for outside transfers in and out to counteract the chance that other nations don't follow suit. I think that would be a good starting point anyway.
  11. He has a lot of links still in the Midlands area - friends, business interests, no doubt he already has a property, always plays at the Belfry... Makes sense for him to get the appearance record and no one, including Koeman, will begrudge him that opportunity.
  12. I like him a lot and am all for playing him through the middle but if he wants to keep that position he's going to have to start putting away more of his chances. Look at Rashford - looks a class player but not clinical enough to be played through the middle week in, week out. I think this is the reality with DCL - he'll get plenty of game time but if and when we get the more clinical striker we're all hoping for, his chances will be more limited as a central striker.
  13. Makes sense. Can't see it affecting the Premier League as we're the ones with most of the money bar a few exceptions so timescales would naturally change to suit the business of the EPL.
  14. It would be unfair to judge him on his time at Blackburn as a 21-22year old. Look at Kane at Norwich, Leicester and early Spurs - not many saw him develop like he did. It seems he's been quality in Italy and quite prolific... with the amount Milan have spent and the players they can attract then surely he must have some quality (I know they signed Borini!!!). I can't really comment too much as I've not seen enough of him recently but 14 in 36 for a very good Croatia team and a good goal scoring record at one of Italy's top teams - he really doesn't deserve the comments I've seen on twitter from some blues. He may be just what we need.
  15. The combination of Matic providing better protection behind and Lukaku providing a more mobile target ahead will bring the best out of Pogba this season. I reckon he'll be one of the candidates for the PFA awards come the end of the season.
  16. Anyone else notice how big Pickford's arse is?! Wouldn't be surprised if he's had a bit of work done there!
  17. Lost 4-3 to 'Brentford B' at Finch Farm. https://www.brentfordfc.com/news/2017/august/highlights-everton-u23-3-4-brentford-b/
  18. I didn't realise he'd been on loan at Roma last season - an injury plagued loan. Injury-free, it'd be a no-brainer but what are the chances of that because he's only played a handful of games in the last 4 seasons? Jérémy Mathieu, a left sided centre back, left Barca on a free this summer - surely that would have been a better short term fix. On a separate note, Polly Parsons (Mrs Vermalen) would be an excellent addition to the stands at Goodison.
  19. He addressed it at half-time before Stoke had had a single shot on target.
  20. I was so impressed with him today. I, like many, baulked at the fee but on what I've seen so far, he looks worth every penny. His distribution is incredible, he's commanding and he pulls off the match winning saves like from Shaqiri today. He'll make mistakes - part of being a keeper - but I see him being an integral part of our future success. He'll be England number 1 for the World Cup.
  21. Solid today - lost a tooth for his troubles!
