  1. That lounge can take a much bigger tv! Maybe wall mount it too. Come on Sandro - up your game!
  2. That's just an ice machine for swelling - those thinking 2 months obviously see the 'strapping' as something more than it is.
  3. Hold the ball up more to get others higher up the pitch. Calvert-Lewin was excellent at the flick ons and getting possession high up the pitch but the ball came back too easily - by no fault of his own. A Giroud type player pins the defender back and wins free-kicks in attacking positions with his strength. I'd love to see Calvert-Lewin playing with this type of striker.
  4. Koeman said we need a top striker to take us to that next level post match. We clearly do and I think that will change the role of a few others and how we play in general. I have a sneaky feeling that we'll get 3 more in - striker, centre back and a winger. There's a lot of new players that need to gel but I, for one, feel very positive that there's a clear plan/style in what we're working towards and we'll get there.
  5. I thought a move to Deportivo was pretty much done.
  6. A draw away to City is a very good result overall. Some of the nonsense spouted in this thread tonight... wow. I personally prefer to actually watch the game - some were certainly more interested in yapping in here than the game itself. I can see why some were frustrated but it's easy to say go toe to toe with City - personally, I think we'd have been talking about a 3-1 defeat had that been our tactics. Maybe more positivity was needed at 1 up against 10 men and I think that was addressed to an extent but we still lack the experienced target man where it just sticks - someone who DCL could play with when we're playing on the counter. We also lack the type of player that Man C seem to have in abundance - the wizard who gets the ball and can run with it - the type defenders won't dare touch - I'd personally go all out for Mahrez, probably unrealistic, but what we lack in my opinion. All in all a solid point against a team who won't drop many at home all season (certainly not in the summer/warmer months).
  7. Jags - solid and composed. Special mention to Calvert-Lewin - tireless effort. We do need a more experienced target man but DCL will get plenty of opportunities and on recent evidence it's looking really positive.
  8. Don't agree in the slightest. He went 4 at the back as City went 1 up top and had more runners from deep - we needed more in midfield. Holgate's mistake sadly turned 3 into 1 in a game where we looked comfortable albeit very backs to wall!
  9. It'd make more sense and be more positive to start him in my opinion. His set piece delivery can punish them. I'd rather bring him off if he's tired than bring him on when we're potentially 1 or 2 down.
  10. Baines, Jags, Rooney, Davies, (Barkley) - all local lads. Pickford, Keane, DCL, Lookman, Holgate - all young English talents. The identity is massively still there - with a thriving academy and a clear route for our youngsters (6 or 7 on-loan in the Championship), it will continue. This summer was always going to be one of massive change as our squad needed a big revamp. I think those in charge have managed this well so far (2 or 3 more needed).
  11. Aaron Mooy of Huddersfield is just Tommy G's footballing reincarnation! Cracking player.
  12. I actually quite like Besic but think he's got a lot to learn - Gana is far superior and reliable in the position they both play in my opinion.
  13. I'm not comenting on Gueye's 'faults' that you can see. I'm commenting on the fact that Besic is far more culpable of making stupid mistakes yet, because he once man marked Messi out of a game and came from a poor league, it's okay.
  14. The fact you rate Besic (whose played more games for us than Gueye by the way so plenty of time to judge) and then knock Gueye for the things he does better than Besic at. Besic can't live off the marking Messi performance forever. You clearly spot something and then that is the tunnelled vision on that thing; you've done it with Gana, Jags, Kane and probably many more. It's as if you have your own peteOpta ratings system... I sure as hell don't understand it but that's your opinion so each to their own.
  15. I wasn't going to take Thursday into account because he was awful. In my opinion he's a poor version on Gueye - without the footballing brain. I feel Besic is too hot headed and makes poor descisions e.g lunges into tackles, far too many touches, aimless passes. What you dislike about Gueye, Besic is far greater culprit of! Each to their own but your analysis of some players is really baffling.
  16. Rooney always in the ref's ear as well... we've lacked that presence on the pitch for too long.
  17. Gana - excellent again. Special mentions to Pickford and Keane for once again solid performances. Lookman was very good for an hour then went missing completely - really encouraging performances in patches though. Final mention to Cuco the not so much of a clown today... played quite well actually!
  18. On-loan though, where he couldn't play against them - he'd make us significantly stronger against their rivals. I personally don't think there's any chance whatsoever but if you don't ask you'll never know.
  19. If he wants to go to the World Cup then he needs to play. Incredible striker when he wants to be. I think his mind's made up on Atletico in January but I'm glad we're at least exploring this.
