Yet lose at home to West Brom - "typical Burnley" was the response I got after that game! It's fine margins - if Cahill isn't given a red early on then Chelsea probably win that... Spurs/Liverpool could have put 6/7 past them. People criticise our performance vs Man C but that's how Burnley have played to get these points; backs to wall, on the break, riding their luck. I'd love a performance like that today if it means 1 or even 3 points!

Sure it wasn't an equaliser - 2-2 Beattie scored early on? I've done a couple of quick darts up to the toilet (not for that) when we've scored just to relieve some energy (not that). Did it at Stoke last season after the controversial Lukaku goal - came back to 2 fat Stokies trying to rip each other's eyes out!
-
He did a back flip when we beat them 3-2 at The Hawthornes... I didn't celebrate as I was in the WBA end. I deserved an Oscar for my performance as a disappointed West Brom fan watching EFC turn being 2 down into a 3-2 win.

It cries out for 3 centre backs with the wing backs creating the width but 1) we don't have the wing backs to do this and 2) we don't have the left sided centre back to allow us to do this either.
-
Doubt it - I know a couple and they saw Heaton, him and Defour (although not necessarily suited to Burnley) as the 'best' players. Seemed a general consensus - not just them. The best players don't always bring the best results.

It's quite funny when it says 'yamar has replied' - not for content of the post - just purely the notification that you get. -
He and Mee were a decent partnership but Keane is certainly the stronger of the 2. I think a lack of options/movement are causing too many aimless long balls - it's as if we're pretending we signed Giroud anyway. It's a shame as Keane is decent on the ball.
-
He was excellent at Burnley. I've been a fan for a long time and he was probably the signing I'm most pleased we made this summer - so far I've been disappointed by his performances. I do expect him to improve however. In his defence, it's been a really tough start for any player bedding in with the performances we've had.
-
Fair point but the chemistry and cohesion comes easier when players are playing with confidence - when we're winning. This obviously comes easier against 'lesser' teams. We need a turning point now - anything to bring a feel good factor back - this is what will help us gel.
-
After Man U on Sunday, we've got a run of games before away to Liverpool where they should all be winnable - we won't win them all but this period will be telling. I'm not excusing the start we've made but it was always going to be a struggle to get many points on the board. The next few weeks are critical for us and Koeman's future.
-
Improved us defensively, made Goodison a fortress and massively improved the points tally/finishing position compared to the 2 preceding seasons.
-
We don't have the players to play 5-3-2 or 3-4-3 (however you want to describe 3 at the back) and we don't have the players to play 4-2-3-1 so it's reverting back to square pegs in round holes. In the days of Moyes you could almost forgive the square pegs in round holes due to working on a tight budget but, after investing how we did this summer, there's no excuses. Koeman needs to get a settled team and system asap as after Man U we've got a run of must win games - fail to win 5/6 back to back then that's when I think questions will begin to be asked. People maybe asking questions already but actually - based on last season's progression - it would be counter productive at this stage.

Atalanta BC (Europa League Leg 1) [Away] Thursday September 14th

Everything to do with it. It'd be direct, it wouldn't be pretty but when the ball sticks up top it gives players - mainly the creative number 10s we have - the chance to play in the oppositions half. We'd always have an option. -

Not getting Giroud has really fucked up his plans. We simply can't get up the pitch. DCL has been excellent but the ball doesn't stick long enough to get the players up there. For all the good we did this summer we've not got the balance right at all. Sunday will be painful!!! -

Huge step up from u23s to first team. Niasse scores bag fulls and looks a world beater at u23 level - I'd hope but doubt he'll be as dominant in the first team. I agree that these players deserve their chance but the difference in quality is huge.
-
I think it may have come down to money with some targets and rightfully so... say £40m plus on Benteke or Jiminez - some fees are just too much of a risk. Yes we paid over the odds for Sigurdsson but he's got the proven track record at this level. Same could possibly said about Benteke but you've got to have limits.
-
That would certainly fit his narrative... funny, for someone with such inside knowledge, he's not mentioned anything earlier.
-
Both very good players but the quality of our central midfield options will show over these over the course of the season.
-
It helped that City fielded Zabeleta and a half arsed Toure as their central midfield pairing that day.

It's mad how Moyes was shite, Martinez was shite and now Koeman is shite yet people still expect us to win every game.
