Agree, very poor. To be honest he hasn’t done a lot in the games he’s been given opportunities but I do feel sorry for the lad as we’re playing so poorly.
-
Gylfi needs to play 10... it’ll help defensively too as he’ll take the set pieces meaning Baines and Kenny can stay back and we don’t end up with the mess of the 1st goal!
-
Hat trick in a man of the match performance on Sky now - his all round play has been class. Could have just scored a 4th!

If I was writing a pen portrait then I’d have been a lot more balanced. I was merely just picking up on your comment aimed at your mate peteO. -

Fair dos if so but you give the impression (to me maybe not others) that you believe in that hype with the quoting yourself/ name dropping/ analogies. The fact that you know of people isn’t a bad thing once again - it’s just I’m clearly a very different character to you as I purposely don’t talk of the players/pundits I personally know and probably wouldn’t bother approaching others unless I knew them/ their company. -

As long as you’ve still got a good 1st touch. -

You’re the definition of the parody that you’re accusing PeteO of being. I post when I’ve got something to say. On this occasion it made me laugh that you, the self-proclaimed oracle, called someone else a parody. I’m not debating your supportive nature but if I was to describe one ‘character’ on this forum as a parody then it would be you... once again, not a bad thing, not my cup of tea, but many love it - keep doing what you’re doing and I’ll input when I’ve got something to say. -

This is rich from the self-proclaimed oracle who used to play a bit (big lad with a good first touch) and met this ex player and that ex player down his local and likes to explain things by describing them as cars... You and peteO seem very similar in many ways. -
DCL has 0 goals from 20 shots in the league. Lukaku has 7 goals from 34 shots. I like DCL a lot but not replacing Lukaku has cost us (and Koeman) dearly. Hopefully, Unsworth will find a different way to play and we’ll find goals easier to come by or at least stop leaking so many.

...and if Steve Walsh wants to find us the next Kane or Lukaku then that’s fine by me! -

I watch every game on Sky/BT so have seen plenty of Kane - he’s a top class striker. I’d go as far to say he’s one of the best in the world on current form (over the last 18months). Yes he was poor at Norwich and Leicester but he was a young lad establishing himself - I remember Bale being so poor that Spurs were trying to flog him to anyone. Where I can’t get my head round your assessment of Kane (and Gerrard/Gueye/Jags for that matter) I do think Haf is equally baffling/ wide of the mark with his assessment of Lukaku (Haf - you don’t need to explain it any further - I’ve read it 1million times with analogies ranging from cars to roast dinners). Both are among the best strikers in the world and, bar a couple of clubs, would walk into any team in the world. -
Many would probably see it as a stroke of genius with the benefit of hindsight. Sometimes you’ve got to be ruthless and on that occasion it worked out far beyond what most Southampton fans could have imagined.

Chelsea (League Cup away) - Wednesday 25th October
c1982 replied to FairWooney's topic in Match Days
Thing is, if that was Chelsea’s 2nd string then it was ours too. It just so happens that they have a lot more quality beyond their regular xi. Rudiger plays most games, Drinkwater is only just back from injury, Christiansen and Batshuayi a top prospects who get in every Chelsea squad - plus they brought on Morata, Pedro and Cesc compared to Niasse, Lookman and Calvert-Lewin. Let’s not forget the players we didn’t play for whatever reason. -

It was by no means a bunch of kids - obviously not the strongest Chelsea but still. Bar Musonda, Kennedy and Ampadu that team is full of internationals for top footballing nations. We had Davies, Baningime and Kenny with equivalent experience to those above. We may have had more experience overall age wise but that’s the likes of Jags, Williams, Mirallas, Rooney and Lennon - they had current Italian, German, Brazilian and England internationals in that team and brought 3 Spanish internationals on. Unsworth deserves credit for a much better performance away to a very strong - albeit not full strength - Chelsea side. -
We’re a massive club in English football - one of the biggest and most loyal fan bases domestically. Where we lack is our global brand - since the Premier League and Sky’s billions this has become more a measure for ‘big clubs’. Globally, we are miles behind Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man C and Spurs - sadly, we have ‘lacked’ in many ways in the richest and most accessible era of English football. This, in my opinion, is why we are often overlooked when talking about the biggest clubs.
-
It is Baningime - probably cover for Gueye. Sambou played tonight - think he starts a lot more now.

They know who they are... speak up you cowards!!!

What about the Koeman voters who deleted their vote? There must be some about...

I’d stand by he seemed the best realistic candidate at the time and did well up to the shambles of this summer moving into the new season... hindsight eh?!

Walsh wanted Rooney too - he said so when they did the all access at Finch Farm with Sky and the rumours were just starting. -
He’d certainly be entertaining to watch on the sidelines...

Pochettino is the best example of this. Same kind of appointment we made in Martinez and Koeman but it’s proven much more successful for Spurs - it can work both ways but I get what you’re saying.
