  1. Probably the most balanced team we’ve had all season. Dropping Rooney and playing Sigurdsson in his strongest position is the right move in my opinion. Disappointed that Vlasic isn’t involved but appreciate Lennon’s role in support of Kenny.
  2. This would be a no brainer. He won’t be short on offers though and will need to make the ‘right’ move pre-World Cup.
  3. He was injured all pre-season I think and has only come back the last month so that may have been a factor.
  4. Agree completely, he may not be the man for the managers role at the moment but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s his one day - whether he keeps doing what he’s doing with the academy or cuts his managerial teeth elsewhere. Best of luck to him.
  5. I like the look of Lenglet at Sevilla for centre back - not a full international yet. I think if Unsworth is in place he’ll take a look at Gibson from Middlesbrough too.
  6. James Tarkowski is a Manc... foreigner is about right then!
  7. He’d be the man I’d turn to if with 10 games left we’re 9 points from safety - he’s proven there’s not many better. The main problem I’d have, even on a 6month contract, is that he’d have control during the January window and, after the window we’ve just had, there are some big decisions to be made. I realise Walsh would oversee this but any manager would have a say. What I will say is I doubt many Spurs fans would have chosen Harry Redknapp when he joined them for many of the same reasons why many (including myself) don’t want Big Sam. Redknapp proved a great appointment, providing the foundations that Pochettino has clearly built on. As I’ve said, I don’t want him but will respect any decision EFC make and judge the new manager on results rather than their past/ my perceptions - they’ll start with a clean slate for me.
  8. No - it would be a massive step back for Moshiri’s ambitions for the club. However, if he was given the role, for however long, he’d get my full support as will whoever gets the job.
  9. Not a clue. Could be truth in it or could be absolute nonsense - sure people will make their own mind up with what they believe.
  10. I agree. Yep but then put in our 1st decent corner in a long time... sure we paid £45m for a set piece specialist...
  11. Seems very harsh, if true, and stupid as he’s been one of the few positives this season.
  12. No one is ‘doing a Barkley’ - there was no getting on his back whatsoever (from my area anyway) but the fact is many have commented that he had a bad game... on a forum. I don’t think Lookman showed anything when he came on - that doesn’t mean I don’t rate him or want him to get opportunities - he’s young and he’ll hopefully develop here.
  13. The rumour I heard was they’d had a fight (Schneiderlin and Mirallas) with Vlasic being punished for what he said about Costa having number 19 saved - breaching confidentially.
  14. I agree on the Davies point - some plainly weird decisions today - that shot from 40 odd yards out?! That 10 yard pass hit 10 yards above Kenny’s head?! Niasse for me anyway - as said before; what he lacks in quality he more than makes up for with his effort, energy and heart.
  15. I thought he was trudging around - he did throw a couple of tackles in but kept doing silly little mistake laced passes - putting us into trouble. He and Baines down the left just slowed everything down on too many occasions. Maybe it was just me but I thought he stunk the place out.
  16. He didn’t look interested today - lost count of how many times he gave it away in the 1st half. He needs dropping as the tempo rose the moment he left the pitch.
  17. If he’s sacked, then we should at least ask, however unlikely it may be. I’d hope we’ve enquired about Tunchel and Anchelotti too.
  18. We need to get on this if there’s any truth!
  19. We are such a poor team - although 0-0 is a good score line away to Lyon, we are an absolute shambles. The last time we were this bad we had true greats like O’Kane, Phelan, Thomsen, Tiler, Farrelly... horrible!
  20. I remember Koeman alluding to the fact we lacked players ‘at their peak’ - say 26-30 yrs (but obviously this isn’t true for all). Yesterday we only had Mirallas, Lennon and Gueye who fit this (before Niasse and Sigurdsson came on). In fact in the whole squad we are seriously short in players ‘at the peak’ of their career... Sigurdsson Bolasie (injured) Schneiderlin Mirallas Niasse (not good enough IMO) Lennon McCarthy (always injured) Martina (not good enough IMO) Coleman (injured) Gueye Mori (injured) Robles (not good enough IMO) Koeman clearly didn’t address this in the summer! We have some great youngsters but they need these players to be playing consistently so they can establish themselves; theoretically, the players above should be the mainstays of the 1st team. Equally, we’re relying on too many players whose best years are behind them - mainly in defence.
  21. I fear that Koeman was too big a name/character for Walsh to go and do his job naturally. Our signings don’t reflect a long term vision.
  22. Fact is, it was far too easy for Leicester in the 2nd half. We were completely toothless. Of course we dominated the 2nd half - they allowed this by sitting back and trying to catch us on the counter. I don’t think I’ll sleep tonight with the thought of that’s what our team looks like after ‘investing’ £150m... clearly not Unsworth’s fault but a massive task for whoever succeeds Koeman.
  23. As they said on Sky, “It’s easier to tighten up than score more goals...” We need to get back to basics and keep a few clean sheets, even if it means a few 0-0 scorelines and boring football away from home - maybe nick the odd result by 1. The reality is, we carry on like this then we could be left adrift in the bottom 3. We’re not going to score many with the players available so we need to plug the leaky defence.
  24. Our best 2 players from the 1st half off - hope it comes off for us!
