  1. Carrillo may well end up at EFC - Silva got him on loan at Watford and obvious Portuguese league links.
  2. Exactly, we’ve hopefully got in Brands, Silva, etc. people who have a clear vision of what they want for EFC - if Carvalho is part of this vision then I’ll be optimistic based on the positives I’ve seen and the fact that there’s previous relationships there so Silva will know character, etc.
  3. It’s great how people can write him off after watching him once against arguably the best team in the world. My guess is that our scouts and recruitment team have done their research and if they see something there, I’ll give it my full support.

  5. ...most of his passes, although often 5 yards, were forward which was a positive!
  6. Well we don’t need him AND Schneiderlin! He was okay in my opinion - didn’t give the ball away but all very short passes - he was always available but didn’t cover much ground. What I will say is not many people will get the ball off him and he seems to win most physical battles when in the position. Is he mobile enough? Is he an upgrade on Schneiderlin? He’s not a replacement for Gana - completely different players. He’ll purely sit and keep it ticking - this will frustrate many but it can be an important role - he’ll need top players ahead of him for it to work.
  7. I’ve never seen him play but if Germany consider him as their 2nd best left back, I’d expect there’s a good chance.
  8. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11671/11402706/everton-keen-on-signing-marvin-plattenhardt-from-hertha-berlin The fact that he’s in the German World Cup squad suggests he’s good enough for us!
  9. Looking at the likes of Leeds, Portsmouth, Sunderland and now Villa - I’m glad he did. We were desperate for the money when Rooney was sold - thank god we had a manager, in Moyes, who worked so well with such a small budget for so long. Things could have been very different.
  10. I’d love him but can’t see any truth in this whatsoever. If it was purely a loan, it’d go against what Brands has said regarding not blocking the route of youngsters - in this case Lookman, Vlasic and DCL - Rashford is clearly better than all 3 but this is why I can’t see any truth in this.
  11. I lasted 20seconds before throwing my phone at the wall - can’t listen to or watch that bumbling clown.
  12. If he was in our plans - this probably rules out any imminent transfer...
  13. 1. Robles 2. Martina 3. Williams 4. Funes Mori 5. Schneiderlin 6. Mirallas 7. Rooney 8. Bolasie 9. Niasse 10. Garbutt 11. Sandro 12. Stekelenburg We would be much better off replacing this lot with 4 or 5 top quality players and that’s without mentioning Klaassen, Besic and others that haven’t done anything of note in EFC colours.
  14. This is a squad full of very average players, not changing would make me nervous!
  15. Good! https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jun/05/everton-marcel-brands-squad-reduction-sell-before-buy I’m as excited about who we are going to sell as to who we are signing - that’s how poorly I rate some of our current squad.
  16. Sterling is a Liverpool Academy player though as he was signed as an academy player before he had made his senior debut. I had forgotten about Suso - another one who is now at AC Milan and capped by Spain. If you're talking about purely developing local lads then maybe we’ve had a couple more in the last 5 years. The thing with academy players now though is that teams are paying more to strengthen academies as we did with Markelo and Bowler etc last summer.
  17. Carragher and Owen played with Rooney. They also gave first opportunities for Sterling and Ibe who were signed by their youth team. Flannaghan looked very handy when he broke onto the scene. Coady, the captain of Wolves too.
  18. Carragher, Owen, Fowler, McManaman... they’ve done alright to be fair!
  19. Did you not know - his real name is Benjamin Button?
  20. Davies is 19 years old with barely 2 seasons under his belt... bit of perspective required here.
  21. He injured his knee ligaments (Maddison) at the end of the season. Supposedly not that bad but something which could affect any deal.
  22. I think Lampard will do alright - his dad and uncle will be vital links for him for advice etc. He’s not rushed into it like many other ex-players and in Derby, he’s got a great job - decent team already with top facilities. If Lampard can pull a few strings e.g loans from Chelsea etc. I think he’ll do well in what will be a very competitive league.
  23. Call me old fashioned but I like my defenders to be able to defend.
