  1. Bluekipper are normally pretty good........ do you think he will be better than Jags in the centre of mid??? Fingers crossed we get him.........
  2. Watched scholes tonight, ok, got sent off. If united paid £50m 14 years ago it would be money extremely well spent - they didn't but look what he's done. This lad to me looks the business - similar but potentially more rounded, £17m could be great business, He is the type of player that makes the difference - forget stature, he can play. Want him signed. Round of applause on Saha, a little risk, but if fit, a world class goal scorer and not many better natural finishers in the game.
  3. Agggghhh WTF, don't know what to think. All I know is that everything we have at the mo is a GAMBLE, apart from Victors mate who wull be great IMO, if Saha gets and remains fit then it could be 1984 with Andy Gray all over again. I want Moutinho, simple as. Moyes knows we want him. I think we will get him, which is why we went cut price on def mid and sacked off M'bia and used the extra cash.
  4. My appraisal of him is simple. AJ worth £10m then as he is 3 times the player he is worth £30m. If he was english he would be partnering Rooney up front for the national team, no question. He is one of the best goal scorers I have seen in Prem, even at pompey and middlesborough he was 20 goals a season. Would not surprise me if one of the top 3 ever tried to buy him, his work rate shouldn't really be questioned, he does what he does and does it well, when he drops deep he makes good lay offs, he can hold ball up. His passing is very good, tremendous power in either foot. £12m was a great piece of business, just got to make sure he has his head on the game.
  5. “I have just been told that Arsenal are as well interested, but my position is clear: I want to start the season with Everton. What Rennes are currently offering me is far behind my demands. Both clubs have to find an agreement to help me leave. I’m aware that my directors have declared I won’t leave, but it’s just a means to make my price higher. I understand their position and I would do the same. It’s politics. Regarding what I’ve heard, I know [general manager Pierre] Dreossi is ready to let me leave. From my part, I don’t want to play for Rennes anymore. Personally I don’t worry because English clubs have the resources to sign me. When they really want a player they are ready to spent whatever amount. I’m hopeful it will be done by next week. That kind of opportunity only happens once. Everton offer me €1.5m (£1.2m) whereas I don’t earn the half of it at Rennes. Even if I owe everything to this club Rennes, I have a family to feed, regardless the challenge, which is very interesting. It’s an ideal springboard for my career.” Even though this doesn't need translating, the message is "I want to play for Everton, my manager will let me go, I have agreed terms - now i'm just on tenterhooks to see whether this club F$%$s another certain transfer up by pinching a few few pennies when they have sold players themelves for well above going rate!" Come on Bill, the mancs wanted him a while back, Arsenal are interested, he wants us. What we waiting for Liverpool? Just like the sissoko ordeal? He's a big lad, he's young, he puts it about, anything less than £8m is a good deal!
  6. Just observed transcript, I doubt the fella is a kopite or a wnd up murchant.... defo Portuguese, types and pronounces better than a red could ever do. Articulate enough and respectful enough to deserve respect. Still, we want MOUT! Seen enough today to realise we are 2 years away from Rodwell, Gosling and Baxter being a major force, then again do we want them pinched.
  7. I think we can, quality costs money I agree, and hopefully a deal right for both parties is met. Put things into perspective in current climate a £16m bid would be more than fair. I for one feel the sentiments of clubs being able to hold onto players. We lost Rooney, didn't want to sell him, he wanted to go and then we had to sell. Same applies, it's rough and tough but it's the way it is. SP have some real quality players and you will do well to keep them away from the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd, liedson and veloso for example. As a side note it does however make me laugh that Real only bid £8m for Van Der Vart
  8. Every player has his price, plus no disrespect to the portuguese league this is the premiership, the prem is the place to be. We are the highest placed team who can offer JM a place to play every week and develop further. To me, it's just a matter of money. Fair play to Sporting, they have churned out some real talent, we wish you well, but we want your captain.
  9. It's not the fee that matters to me. It is getting someone on the wagebill that will cost a fortune, he will be looking at £40-£50k a week. Do you think the likes of Cahill, Arteta, Yakubu, who will be first team regulars will be happy at having a bench warmer on parity? There is definately a question mark over his fitness, I think he is all but spent, his injury was horrendous and sometimes you just aren't the same player again. I wish it could be a bargain, but my gut feeling is no chance, he ain't a midfielder, and he isn't a first choice striker - look at ljunberg at west ham.........
  10. Considering we sold mcfadden for £6m, anything over than for Johnson is great business, the lad simply could not threaten centre halves the way he used to - when they were scared to touch him in the box. He never beat a man with a trick or pace for that matter. When up against the likes of only Biket, Skirtle (zenit) who had enough pace and strength, he was made to look like a little boy and would then play out wide - never mind the likes of Terry, Ferdinand, Vidic, Woodgate. Cahill has a better goals per game average especially considering his position. It's great business, I do wish him well as he works hard but unfortunately he is a good championship player the same as Beattie and Nugent. When Vaughan or Victor replaced him on the pitch you could see the difference in quality, first touch, strength, confidence - so it had to be done. Let's just hope we can bring Milito in, anyone with a goal in every other game in spain and italy whilst playing as a target man has gotta be a great foil for Yak. Just need to get some business tied up in next two days, Milito, Moutinho and a defensive mid fielder (however I think he is gonna try Dan Gosling or Rodwell)
  11. Rumour is he has failed it - knee. Not sure on how true it is, it's on toffeeweb. Bad news, maybe Fulham realised £13m was too much!
  12. it maybe so - it did come from reliable source though so i gotta post it. let's face it do the club always tell us the truth?, problem is we have been hoodwinked so many times before we always look to put faith in rumours!
  13. Haven't posted for ages but having heard this from a solid source it may have some truth. Apparently the deal is done they are just awaiting confirmation that they (west ham) will be in the prem league next year. Story came from someone who said they met AJ on holiday and he confirmed himself. My source spoke to this person. If it is true then very good business IMO, AJ has been a good signing for £8 million - nothing spectacular though, £22 million = fernandez plus a £10 mill striker. we'll see..............
  14. let's have a poll and ask the question - Is Richard Wright the biggest goalkeeping disappointment we have had??? Let's not faff around here - the problem is without Martyn we are looking at throwing a youngster in - and I for one think he is better than teflon. So let the discussion be - who can we get in??? I like Kiely from Charlton
  15. After watching what was a great opening 20 minutes on Saturday I have to get back to a major sticking point (now try to forget the fact that we won and we are doing well at the moment) The problem is that the team has an issue in taking advantage when going a goal ahead. We can not seem to get the Arsenal/Blackburn/West Ham mentality of finishing teams off by continually attacking when going a goal ahead. Man City were awful but we still offered them too many chances to get a goal they didn't deserve. We sat back and let them have a go. Now it's great that we got the 3 points but on another day against another team we may lose unless we get that ruthless mentality. On the positive side - Leon proved what I have always said about him that he is not far away from international class (won't get in England unless he plays for RS, Mancs or Chelsea/Arsenal) - nearest player we have had to Trevor Steven. Stubbs marshalled the back line and Tony defended termendously. Arteta was also great when we were great. Richard Wright... well let's just not comment. Not a full on moan but it is something I would like to see us improve on.
  16. In all honesty wasn't tellin Zed off, I was genuinely unsure whether or not he was being sarcy. Dunc has let us down, but yes I am one of the ones who has chuckled in the past at the way he dishes out his retribution to so called tough centre halves - so I can't criticise. We should create a list of his next targets: Gerrard, Savage, Sissoko feel free to continue...
  17. Zed, looking at your Neighbourhood watch icon it appears that you to an extent embrace what he is all about??? as do most of us for right or wrong I am disappointed in him, but it's Duncan - he doesn't do these things after thinking to himself "hhmmmm is this a good time to give this lad a dig, BT is out, transfer window is closed etc etc - ooohh I dunno - here take this!!! he is a spontaneous character - simple as that. Can score inmportant goals, have major impacts, or can just lose the plot. I would have probably changed the icon before making that statement as at first I thought you were being sarcastic.
  18. Bent is a 1 goal in 5 chance striker, beatties ratio is far better IMO - the only difference is that Beattie is better in the air, lacks bents pace but beattie will work his socks off - bent will work his socks off when he feels like it. £2.5m is great business for Bent.
  19. it just doesn't sit well with me at all this - the club have made him do ana apology just to cover their shame in having to go back in for a player they cast off due to being too old for a new deal. I'm an angrier fan than Dan the angry fan today.
  20. Alan don't even apologise mate - the true fans can see through the publicity machine that the club tries to hoodwink the fans with. The article on Everton FC.com would have been drafted and re drafted etc etc just to level things out. I suppose in the same way Per Kroldrup just couldn't settle, and that Anelkas agent contacted us - yeah right ok. The top and bottom of it was that a club captain and boyhood blue left the club due to the way that it is run - plain and simple - you can look at negotiations, you can listen to stories of discontent it all boils down to the same fact. As to why he was treated in such a shambolic way is the reason many of us are so bewildered with the powers that be at the club now.
  21. I sit in between two liverpool in work and even they are bewildered, they aren't even taking joy out of this believe it or not. I think many real fans across the country empathise with other fans when the powers that be at the club are taking honest decent fans for a ride - let's face it - it is starting to happen at Man Ure. If the board want the club run in this manner then we may as well have signed Harry Redknapp - (there is one more relegation place up for grabs as portsmouth will escape) I heard that Kroldrup had to leave due to not being able to handle the rollickings in training - too many stories regarding lost dressing room for my liking. One benefit of having Stubbs back is that he is not afraid to speak his mind if thinsg aren't going well behind the scenes. Pat - you are right - desperation times, desparation measures, desparing fans
  22. so when Mr Moyes talks about getting the right player at the right price is this what we are talking about??? It seems that when he shops in Harrods he hasn't got a clue - only Yobo has upto now been worth the money spent and he has been prone to lapses, he is more comfortable with the security and no risk of free signings and bargain basement players - where expectations can not be put as high. Well sorry board, sorry Bill, sorry David we are Evertonians and many of whom recall the club winning leagues, cups and being in the running for top quality players. Whilst I understand we are not rolling in cash this is an absolute disgrace and the clubs name has sunk even lower. From the start of the season we have gone from being close to the golden goose of champions league football and now we are resigning yet another defender who we let go as we needed to progress - why have we resigned Stubbs? (no offence to Alan btw a great player who is now near the end of his career) I hate David O'leary - but at least he has the bottle to question his clubs ambition regarding money etc. We have been suckered into believing we were going in the right direction - we aren't - we are going backwards. I wasn't happy a few weeks back - i'm even more unhappy. P.s a special thanks to the powers that be for allowing Anelka to take a snipe at us - we never had a chance of signing him - but then again you knew that
  23. I believe it's a smoke screen for Matt Jansen - I think Moyes is worried that Newcastle may steal a march on Jansen who has lost his way somewhat, so is using some sneaky tactics such as pretending to bid for a quality player! £7.5m - don't make me laugh!!!
  24. Good comments lads - the fact that the likes of ourselves having such informed opinions is a sign that those who try to pull wool over our eyes are unable to do so in the manner that they used to. It is a sad state of affairs that we have to admit that we are where we are financially in terms of lack of investment and yes that we are are in essence skint, if any club deserves a foreign sugar daddy who wants to spend daddy's millions and use us as their hobby then it's us. Our history will prevent people having the new found hatred that accompanies Chelsea - what did they do before Roman (bar FA Cup)??? We deserve some good fortune. It's just so annoying that we so often hear the phrase "turn the corner" after last season when we should be hearing "Progress". It is is getting near kick on or move on stage. Future managers should needs be - Jewell, Newell or O'Neil.
  25. I blame Kenwright - he is blue through and through but I know a load of those - it doesn't mean they should be the chairman of what is ultimately a business. Sentiment and enthusiasm does not not make up for shrewd, prudent and at times ruthless business accumen - which he ain't got. He has lied regards the FF - nuff said. Moyes - I do believe that he does have man management issues - I didn't believe so at first and didn't when told by a person a knows players. I like his single mindedness in a way - but not when it comes to the fact that he can display tactical naivity and allow his personal opinion and morals come between signing the right quality players (not just yes men who will do as they are told). he seems intent on signing honest players - which I take as shorthand way of saying - not good enough but works hard. This is ok in the lower leagues but not when you are playing teams with Henry's, Rooney's, and Coles. I think the jury is still out on Chief exec as who would have wanted his job? I think the problem is that we are kept in the dark as to how long the club has been in disarray and to what extent. Did Rooney leave? was he sold? - I think the latter. This indicates there was a deeper lying problem at the club.
