  1. He has as much as admitted he is an Evertonian and I feel he has realised how he went about things was wrong. I believe he will one day play for us purely to try and right the wrong. Looking at another 6 years though. I don't think he will be totally forgiven, but I think some fans may understand how young he was and had his head turned. Let's face it, we sold him, we were skint and would have gone under without the money. His behavior against us has left alot to be desired though.
  2. To be honest I had raised eye brows for quite some time with my criticism of him, I never seen him as being strong enough to compete with centre halves who are now quick enough to neutralise his pace and use their bodies against him. Against skyrtle in the zenit game, he looked like a boy. Great trier but alas not top standard, always preffered Vaughan over him when fit.
  3. Moyes must be playing FM 2009 using the old database, in all honesty this lad looks very good from what i've seen on Youtube, plus there is a good report from Steve Claridge here...... http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/...p;feed=football
  4. Be very very surprised, more likely his agent using our name to drum up interest. 29?! No chance, especially at that price.
  5. we would be "expected" to sell for £6m-£8m otherwise teams would say thanks but no thanks. In realism it would be daft, a player that can operate on the left flank who has a good understanding with Baines - why sell? He is far better than downing who is rated £12m?! Just sign him up for 5 years and be done with it. Great player, great attitude, unfashionable at the moment - his true value is £12-£15m imo.
  6. Friend of mine is big city fan, says Richards is a disgrace and is not the player people outside of city think he is. Add to that a bad attitude and it's a no from me. If they want Lescott £20m, straight cash, - get our buys first though so we don't pay premiums and use lescott money as an I.O.U....
  7. Saha included, buying injury prone players is not the right way forward for Everton. Who knows what we could have achieved this season without injuries, we don't have the resources to pay £50k a week to a 'free' gamble. Saha has been an ok buy, he has scored a handful of vital goals and if that's as pay as you play then an even better buy. I honestly believe that Owen would struggle in a championship side nowadays as his lack of pace and power would stand out and he would be bullied out of games. Owen dropping deeper only goes to show that he can no longer play on the centre halves shoulders hoping for a through ball. If we want a deep striker then we have plenty of options with Osman, Cahill, Fellaini. Bringing a big name in who may not add to the quality of the squad may only push some noses out of place. If we are going to give a chance to player who needs to overcome injuries and show his class, then that man has to be James Vaughan. Yak is number 1, and he needs someone to compliment him. Money involved (up to £8m), my choice would be Crouch, I think he would compliment Yak perfectly, can hold the ball up, takes defenders with him, is tidy on the deck and is an option in the air (given his improvement in this department)
  8. Signing Owen would be like getting a Sierra Cosworth, in it's day a great looking car. Problem is , buy one now - even for peanuts, it looks dated, not as quick, expensive to run, supseptible bodywork, and all your mates who used to have one would laugh - especially when they have a porsche like Torres in the garage. Everton had become somewhat of an Elephants grave yard (Hughes, Ginola, Gascoigne) - I thought we were getting away from that. Why not go for a young lad with shear pace and strength (the football manager database will help) - would Wenger sign Owen? No. He would do his usual and buy a player with the raw attributes that he could mould. Football has moved on alot since Owen was prolific, forwards do a lot more for the team and have a wider variety of attributes and all round play, how does Owen's game compare to a Samuel Eto, Torres, Rooney, Aguero, Henry, Drogba, Anelka, Adebuyor, Pato, the list goes on. Forward players nowadays need to be not just pacey but strong, good in the air because centre halves have become far more athletic. I would sooner have Nugent than Owen, at least his heart would be in it, plus he can hold the ball up. Ebanks blake? These lads deserve a chance, lets face it, Owen has never been the same player he was in 98/99, without his pace, he relies on clever movement, and to be perfectly honest he is a six yard box merchant as his distance finishing is poor. A player who has sporting commitments outside of football (horse racing) is not hungry enough to play for this club.
  9. Just picking up on the Kings dock, I think we would have 'generated' more fans, added to the fact that the stadium would be more accessible for existing fans. There is alot of Kudos created getting a new stadium which does strangely enough influence people to go to the match. Look at Arsenal, they had a tight old stadium with less or similar capacity to us and similar attendances (not always sell outs). They get a new stadium in a fashionable part of islington, now all the fans who wouldn't be seen going to highbury are enjoying a nice day out at the emirates (pretty much like the new age of Chelsea fans who had never seen a match till Chelsea became 'rich' and trendy)
  10. I know we blame the euro ban on our club not progressing at a rate that would 'probably' have seen us sitting pretty financially for many years, but we didn't half miss a trick in not getting Kings dock. That would have made us an extremely attractive club for investors and transfers funds would have been aplenty. Oh well eh.
  11. The whole point in not signing him is that he isn't fit or hungry anymore and his fitness will never be as sharp as it was, his main goal was to beat Charltons England goalscoring record - now that capello appears not to rate him, my feeling is that he will pursue horse racing full time. Signing a player whose reputation exceeds ability is not a good move.
  12. Baines will make world cup squad, BTW weakest forward line I have ever seen bar Rooney. Vaughan give him a run of fitness and games could break that
  13. In the overall scheme of things I find it hard to get excited enough to criticise a player who has had to deal with a lot more than your average bloke on the street, Yes he has been paid well for very little but that does not compensate his issues in his private life. Everyone I know who has met him find him a likeable down to earth person who wanted to do well for us, the fact that he didn't meet Moyes work ethic does not mean he wouldn't have done a job. People will quickly idolise Duncan Ferguson (me included), yet criticise Van Der Meyde for the reasons that they tend to overlook Dunc for.
  14. Buying Alan Smith is sending the wrong message out to everyone who may see us as an ambitious team. Why would we have or need him? He is finished as he will never be the player he was before his injury, even if he was, I wouldn't have him, backward step. Same goes for Owen, we are moving forward, they are moving backwards. Anyone who is not going to improve the first 11 is clutter in my opinion.
  15. I feel he's had a lot of growing up to do, he now knows what is expected of him. I feel it is a win win for us. He will prob be on 30k a week, he will give much needed cover for the the Euro cup games, the team spirit we have have may be infectious and give him a new lease of life. Moyes will hopefully have strict rules in his contract that will enable him to get rid if he steps out of line. I would like us to get Crouch too.
  16. Been told by a reliable source that Pennant has agreed to join us in the summer on a free. Personally I think it's not a bad signing if it happens. Given a run of games and some confidence he could be a useful addition to the squad.
  17. Hafnia

    Man Utd (home)

Over 90 mins pienaar was the best player - when we were poor he was one player who showed and kept cool. Jags was immense too, notice berbatov didn't want to know after jags nearly took his leg off. Neville had his best game in a blue shirt
  18. sorry but he will not do anything for a team other than hang in 6 yrd box, most players haven't got the gall to be as selfish as Owen and look at their team mates in the eye. Yeah, great player when he had pace to beat the defender, now he can't, he relies on people not picking him up. £100k a week!!! He has been the most overrated player for ages and Capello has seen it. People seem to forget he insisted on taking penalties for the shite and he had the worst average. He missed 3 in 5 once. nah leave him for Spurs, expensive lazy selfish luxury... had his day and is still gettin well paid..
  19. watched hibbert closely today, he reacts rather than anticipates, compare him to evra, cole, bridge, the arsenal boys, and it's not even a gulf, it's frightening that he plays the same level as them. He can't cross. I am desperate for the lad to do well as a local homegrown talent, but alas he is in the same boat as Rhino, great heart and a blue, but weak link. Baines showed the way today. it's not about bandwagons, it's just that some fans share the same negative opinions at times and need to tell them. You can get behind him all you like, things won't change in terms of his ability. He should have been hangin in taylors face, holding his shirt etc like carragher does, instead gave free header and effectively let them back in game, I do blame howard also though
  20. the way we need to look at it is this, would any of the performance given warrant a start in next game if their was an adequate replacement for each person, i.e utd, chelsea, and to a point the red shite. Howard - Drop him, simple as. Nash would probably save some of ones he has let in and at least talk to back 4. Hibbert - Not prem quality sorry. Jagielka - 1st name on sheet player of year up to now Lescott - nothin to be proud about but he has the class Baines - deserves his chance Arteta - sell him in January if he carries on like this, I would seriously drop him to try and get right response Osman - technically very good, phyically poor, works hard. Fellaini - Keep playing him, he will come good. Pienaar - get him involved he does good things. Yakubu - lazy, drop for vaughan Saha - give him games, youi can see him improving all in all, where is the leader? Gotta be Jags
  21. piss poor. We have got the worst right back in the prem, plus unfortunately Howard has seemingly lost his bottle, he just isn't talking to his back 4, this has been clear in a few games now and we are conceding, he needs to command his area, rather than scurrying around the six yard box. Is he doing what led him to be dropped at old trafford? could well be the case. Is carlo good enough to step in though? controversial one, but the Yak needs a rocket, he is rapidly returning back to the jogging lazy centre forward that was critisised so often, fellaini is more a victim of his size rather than be a constant fouler, he looks reasonably decent and is too early to rate. Baines looked ok today, Osman was best player, we just need a leader, someone who can really own the responsibility, and it's not neville, give the armband to Jags. Very disjointed, lacking belief, no cohesion, lot of work to do. Poor day.
  22. workmanlike and clueless, no spark of invention, quiet end of season with no carsley has cost us...
  23. The only way I can see Watson's side of it is the fact that he is a boyhood geordie, that's fair enough. If he said, Moyes is a good manager, let's try and get him, then ok, i'd be cheesed off just on the basis we paid him £1000's in wages and speaking out like that is out of turn. However to say he needs to show ambition by coming to Newcastle is BoLLo&^kS and for that alone he needs to be corrected. They have not won anything of note, bar the the backing of the rest of the country when failing against Man UTD in their league challenge they threw away. They are a club whose fans behave like they are the only true fans in the country and anyone who doesn't get his fat gut out, doesn't care. I find it's possibly the biggest insult ever that our manager should be tempted to leave for a club that forever promises to deliver, but never does. Nothing against newcastle, it's really difficult to break into the top 4 for any club, but a club that doesn't offer a manager stability is not an option, and to suggest a club on the up like ours, run efficiently should be worried about losing a manager to such a shambles.
  24. 22 min 15 secs - good header, pretty much made carragher look like a little boy, just wide. Very similar to a scottish number 9 in the way he attacks the ball in the air, impressive. Seems unplayable in the air. Name some prem centre mids who could mark him for goal kicks?, I can't think of many....... Much needed height and prescence, could just be the minder we need for Mikel, Pienaar and Ossie. he will give them the space and confidence against stronger teams. To those who have laughed a us for going in with £15m, we may have last laugh...
