  1. MOTM could go to any of our essentially 4 new defenders. Stekelenburg in goal was fantastic... incredible to see someone coming out of his box and punching so many balls away. Williams very assured and cleaned up more dangerous chances than anyone else. Holgate did a great job with Arnautovic and held his own pushing forward including that fantastic piece of dribbling to win the free kick there at the end. And Gueye was everywhere once again. Our attacking still needs some work though. Everyone looks rusty. Barkley was good at times but gave away far too many balls, either due to miscommunication or poor decision-making. Rom was good in hold-up play but only once or twice made the right decision. Mirallas was good but not sensational. And Bolasie looks a live wire but, like Barkley, precision wasn't there. Overall a good performance and MOTM to Gueye.
  2. Steckelenberg has officially convinced me.
  3. Lots of poor decision-making. Some terrible giveaways so far interlaced into otherwise fine team play. Curious to see if Koeman makes any changes at the half, seeing as the gameplan is working but not working.
  4. Great hold up play; that shot was way, way off, though.
  5. Was going to jump in with this if you hadn't.
  6. The other hand will be stitched up soon enough.
  7. Beat me to it as I only have one hand to type. Goddamn stitches.
  8. Demonstrating a misunderstanding of these coefficients. The best 6 or so teams in Spain and Germany have performed better in European competition over the last several years than the best 6 or so teams in England. That does not mean that the leagues as a whole are better or that the competition that Hart faces against 19 other premier league teams is inferior to the competition Bravo or Neuer face day in/day out in their respective leagues. There are only so many Dortmunds, Wolfsburgs, and teams from Madrid.
  9. Don't think so. Supposedly bet365 has it if you have a funded account. I'll just be looking for an unauthorized stream.
  10. Shaquiri and for some reason Bojan, even when he's not playing well, always worry me. The two can both create that little bit of magic out of nothing.
  11. Not very ambitious for fans to want a player to sit on their bench for two more years, eh?
  12. To be fair, I'm convinced Howard's decline was down much more to age than to RM. It's not like Klinnsman organized the best defense in the World Cup in 2014. Howard was just otherworldly. His decline happened nearly immediately after, and that after one season playing very well under RM. For a couple years, Howard was top three to five in the league. If Hart is even an equal to Howard in his prime, I'll be alright with it.
  13. No. We would've had to pay a percentage of the valuation of any player included in the deal to Barnsley.
  14. Somebody gonna merge this thread and angrily tell Peter H to use the search function next time or what?
  15. Thank you for this. Tried to say the same a page ago but definitely less articulately.
  16. Two takeaways from this: 1. He seems resigned to Lukaku's departure, and that scares me. 2. Goddamn, it's refreshing to hear an Everton manager say they're not happy with a 3-1 win and to say that they didn't play well in a 45 minutes that they more or less dominated and outscored an opponent. So many of the squad looked like they just needed a little fire up their asses last season, and here it looks like they might finally be feeling the burn.
  17. Second the Russian League comment. And Niasse's stats weren't even that incredible; they were just better than average. I don't know when Aston Villa fans became the moderators of good, but yeah, I'd rather trust a guy who just won a title at Leicester with 22 million pounds in his starting 11 than a bunch of fans who hate everyone in a squad that was just relegated for the first time in nearly 30 years.
  18. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/07/20/report-utrecht-set-asking-price-for-24-goal-sebastien-haller-eve/ This was from two days ago; 7 million pounds doesn't seem like a bad asking price for a 22 year old capable of scoring 24 in 40 even in a much lower league. Does anyone know much more about him? Judging from a 3 minute highlight reel, seems to be a good header of the ball, confident, works himself into good spaces and a good poacher. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgPc4HEZxC4 Too similar to Lukaku if we keep him?
