Just rewatched Naisy's hat-trick from last year. Strange to say, but somehow I think I'd be more confident going into this match if he was still in the side. He seems to hate Chelsea as much as I do.

First premier league game I haven't watched all season and we get a clean sheet and a two goal win. Maybe I should stop watching.

Everton 1 - 1 West Ham Lukaku

Bolasie the only creativity and while Rom's touches were better than usual today, he was never in the box when he needed to be. Gueye was very good. Overall, we were very bad despite dominating the game.

Burnley 0 - 2 Everton Lukaku

Man City looks so fast and so well organized it's ridiculous. We're just not linking up quickly enough or finding open space enough to get anything going whatsoever against them. Don't think I've ever seen a defense organized so well.

Hadn't even read this when I posted in the match thread but this is what I was trying to get at.

Harry Kane is pretty much the opposite of Ross Barkley. Shouldn't be that good but has the brain of a footballing god. Ross should be incredible but has no idea what he's doing.

There was clearly no contact judging by the replay, so the ref got it wrong. Regardless, tough call to make and still a foul on the edge of the box.

Exactly. Also, there was nothing to be cool about in that match save for ten minutes of the first half. We did look as lost in attack as during the Martinez era. Only Eric is saying that it means all hope is lost, but it is extremely concerning how pedestrian we've looked in three consecutive matches.

Read Romey's post above. He offers literally nothing going forward. All of his passes are sideways or far too slow/careful to create any chances. He doesn't give away many balls, sure, though he did have a few stinkers today. It's just that he plays at such a replacement player level that he doesn't deserve to ever get a chance in the first team. I'd rather see Mirallas attacking and losing the ball every single move than see Cleverley slowly pass sideways so defenders have ample time to close down, ad infinitum.

The American broadcast was saying it should have been an indirect free kick per the rule book rather than the direct kick given. But it was definitely a foul.

Disgraceful, really. Cleverley was absolute shit. Offered no quality at all. The Funes Mori sub was a joke. Barkley, though making some mistakes, offered about the only creative play in the match from any attacking player.

It looks like we're down two men. No closing down. This is pathetic.
