  1. Maybe not in the U-23's because he'll make the squad Wednesday? Koeman might also see Funes Mori as lb cover, which is a bit scary.
  2. Now seems a pretty ideal chance for a Kieran Dowell call-up; he's pretty much the only like-for-like ACM to back up Barkley. It scares me as well that Koeman thinks Valencia is enough backup for Lukaku, but maybe he really is that high on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lookman.
  3. Same. Hopefully he'll play really well and Milan will rue the fact that they were reluctant to add a clause to buy him come July.
  4. Yeah I was a big fan, too. I met him at an Apple Store in New York about a year and a half ago and he was a super nice dude. I think he was a really good servant for Everton, and for several of the years he was our keeper, I'd even argue he was top 3-5 in the league. But I think he's having a pretty hard time dealing with his declining form as he looks continuously more past it. That whole article, even if some of it was taken out of context, strikes me as the arrogance of a dude who came up before the American consciousness of good football is what it is now and sees himself as a sort of gatekeeper. That said, Joel was way better than him last year.
  5. Was going to break down that list myself; some very good players there.
  6. Well, for what it's worth, apparently Tim Howard thinks he'd still be our #1 if he was here, despite losing his spot to Robles last season: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/soccer/national/2017/01/17/tim-howard-speaks-out-against-jurgen-klinsmann/96689094/
  7. Add to that McCarthy and Besic when they're fully fit and that, at the very least, must be the hardest working midfield in the prem.
  8. He's good. Simple as that. He looks big in goal, he commands the box better than Howard ever did, he's quick, he thinks well, and occasionally, like all other keepers save the Cechs of the world, he finds himself out of position. He's still 26 and I'd feel pretty good about spending the next few years with him as our number one.
  9. Still pretty confused about this one. I don't think this was one of Martinez's poor signings; a lot of clubs seemed genuinely in for him.
  10. Enough that we're almost sure to win one of those bets!
  11. To be fair, I think a lot of people thought Henen was going to be very good. We weren't the only ones in for him.
  12. Jesus Christ this is better than the Schneiderlin signing. So happy I don't have to see him in an Everton kit again.
  13. Definitely a Jordan fan. Part of the reason why his is the only kit with a name/number on it that I own.
  14. I'm sure he will one Sunday. Just maybe not this one.
  15. When completely healthy and available, we should now line up: Robles Coleman / Williams / Funes Mori (or Holgate)/ Baines Gana / Schneiderlin Bolasie Barkley Mirallas Lukaku It looks good (though I don't know that we'll ever see that lineup with Bolasie out all season), but somehow I still don't think we'll be inspiring much fear in anyone.
  16. Well, if you're Man U you can demand 22 million pounds for a player you've written off...
  17. Also, just blew through a lot of posts so thanks for the geography non-lessons. I live in San Diego, my handle involves New York because that happened once and I started following this forum in Boston. I studied in Oxford for a term and I was born in Wyoming and lived in Idaho and Oregon for roughly half of my life. That's a lot of zip codes and no jargon about any of their relevance to Ronald koeman, just in case you're still reading.
  18. He drives me insane. Honestly, watching a bunch of videos of Charlton play today in order to get a preview of Lookman, I think Cleverley might be a replacement-level player in the Championship and an asset in League One, as his only real skill is maintaining possession with sideways and backward passes.
  19. I agree that it won't happen, but Christ I wish it would. Think Davies has the capability to play that Barry sweeper role but with more pace and drive to get forward. It would force Barkley to track back more than he probably ever will, but I've finally been won over that his best role is playing deeper and being able to drive in space, and now that he has that little bit of confidence from his good play in the past two matches, I think he might take advantage of that space.
  20. Cup ties are always hard to find but I always check beIN sports and fox sports go for them and have luck about half the time.
